Young Hollywood

Here's the thing, did you come of a lot of personal pain? Have you had issues? If you any mental illness, alcoholism in your family, drug addiction?

Tom Arnold

Loads of that, yeah.

Young Hollywood

Oh, okay, good. Well, then you got a shot. Okay, I can be, okay. You got a shot. I'm Oliver here at the Young Hollywood Studio with the funny man himself, Tom Arnold. How are you?

Tom Arnold

I'm good. How are you doing, buddy?

Young Hollywood

I'm good, mate. I'm good. Thanks for coming in.

Tom Arnold

Well, thanks for having me. It's a it's a pleasure.

Young Hollywood

It's a pleasure to have you here on the sofa.

Tom Arnold

Oh, it's great to be here. I'm hoping that by the end of this interview, I'll be funny.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. You can like leak some of your comedic stuff into me. Which sounds really.

Tom Arnold

I could I could whip some of that up upstairs and just brought a cup for you.

Young Hollywood

Could could you do that? Can you bring me a cup of comedy?

Tom Arnold

You give me a cup and I'll fill it up.

Young Hollywood

Okay, brilliant. I will give you a cup when you.

Tom Arnold

You could I'll share the sweet nectar of genius with you, my friend.

Young Hollywood

I love that. I love that. Tom, sharing the love. Sharing the love. Brilliant. You shared the laughter of love in the hit and run. And clocked you at 127 miles per hour. I'm a US Marshall. I've got someone in witness protection who needs my protection. Do you think it's safe to say that you shouldn't be driving at NASCAR speeds?

Tom Arnold

Oh. I I didn't know what I didn't have no idea. Oh, you know. Hilarious. I did. Very funny. Very funny.

Young Hollywood

Did you watch it?

Tom Arnold

Yes. I did. And it's very, very funny. It did a great job. They pushed the barrier, which I like. I like it. Yeah.

Young Hollywood

They did. I've never heard that term. I've heard boundary I've heard, but never barrier. Pushed the barrier. Push the barrier. Is that something Is that Australia? I got no idea. I don't really know. You did you did a great job. That's all right though. Well, it's right now. Do do things. It's right. You can take that with you. You can give me the cup of comedy and you can have that one in your pocket.

Tom Arnold

Yeah.

Young Hollywood

Dax, obviously a friend of yours. You guys known each other for a while, haven't you?

Tom Arnold

Yeah, 10 years. We better I know when he was on punk. That was it, right? Yeah.

Young Hollywood

Um so Dax came to you obviously with the project and you said yes.

Tom Arnold

Yeah. Yeah, we've done a couple other things before. You know, he's my best man. Dax took the time to write a script. He said I've written something funny for you. You go straying in the van. I don't know what you're saying writing a van means. It sounds weird. It sounds like you're up above the van.

Young Hollywood

Well, that's why I would I would I would guess. No, but you're apparently chasing it and shoot it again.

Tom Arnold

Yeah. Mom! Oh, no, kids. No. Hey, what are you doing? What are you doing, Randy? Nothing. What do you mean, nothing? I look out my window. You're ghost riding your van in the backyard. Man, you're blasting holes and everything. Shut the fuck up, Charlie. I'm sorry, man.

Young Hollywood

And you're you're this US Marshall and you're pretty bad.

Tom Arnold

Yeah, I'm not good at it. I'm not I'm not I've got a heart of gold, but I'm not good at it and I've been demo. I mean, I'm taking care of Dax Shepard. What do you have to do in life? What do you have to fuck up to end up taking care of Dax Shepard? You you done you really annoyed somebody. You're really screwed the pooch.

Young Hollywood

You're also uh intimacy coach. You done that funny or die video. Yeah. For the movie as well.

Tom Arnold

Well, I know them. I know Kristen and Dax by the way. So if they have any intimacy issues sometimes it doesn't translate, you know? And as I say in there, you know, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman they didn't translate into the movies or or Tom Cruise and Mimi Rogers or Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. You know, whoever is with Tom Cruise doesn't translate, but but I love Tom Cruise by the way. He's the most awesome guy. I'm never going to put him at all. A little. Love him, love him. Um, but uh, but you know, so sometimes you got to pep it up a little bit, you know? And we watched them and they weren't doing it. You get see on the funnier die thing. I helped them. I got involved. Get out. What? I'm jumping in. I'm taking over. No, no, no, no, that's totally across the line. You're not getting in here with Chris. No, no, I'm getting in there with you. Kristen, please excuse yourself. Like around, be around, around. And then back down. And then stay there for a couple beats. Hey, um, would anyone mind if we got a close set?

Young Hollywood

You are very funny. Yeah. You are very funny. Thank you. Can you you can't teach comedy like that. I've realized that.

Tom Arnold

No, you really can't. Why would you?

Young Hollywood

The cup's really not going to help me, is it?

Tom Arnold

Yeah, here's the thing. Did you come a lot of personal pain if you had issues if you any mental illness, alcoholism in your family, drug addiction? Loads of that, yeah.

Young Hollywood

Well, okay, good. Well, then you got a shot. Okay, I can be, okay. You got a shot.

Tom Arnold

And I've had most of it myself too.

Young Hollywood

Yeah, yeah, that's what I mean. So we're on the right track. Exactly. I knew there was a reason I that happened. Yeah, you you do it. You suffer for your art. Yeah, the positive from the negative. I love that. I love that. The positive from the negative. Tom, this has been an absolute pleasure and I mean that. Yeah. Thank you, buddy. I'm going to let you leave and push that barrier. Okay, buddy. And uh you are amazing. Hit and run, watch it for Tom for everyone. For everyone. For everyone. This is brilliant. Thank you, buddy.

Tom Arnold

Pleasure.
