RJ here in the RTI Young Hollywood Studio with funny man Chris Parnell.

Hello.

Lazy Sunday. I mean that is like one of the all-time classic videos on YouTube. One of the most watched videos ever on YouTube. And you're one of the Lazy Sunday guys.

Yeah, yeah. I was, you know, I was just sort of lucky to be a part of it. They came in and, uh, guns blazing, Akiva and Andy and Jorma and they had this amazing skill set of how to make these videos. And they said, you know, we've saw the video, the raps you've done on SNL and wondered if you'd wanna do one with us. And I was like, absolutely.

Do you rap rap when you're at home? Have you given up the rapping completely?

Yeah, I don't, I don't really rap, um, around the home. Sometimes I'll sing in the shower to the to the stereo, but, uh, not no, no, not much rapping.

Look at Andy Samberg, what he's done with his whole remixing T-Pain's video now and and all that stuff.

Yeah, yeah, I know those guys recorded an album this summer. Yeah, I'm hoping to hear what that is. Yeah, yeah, so I'm eager to, I'm eager to hear what that is.

I well let's talk about Big Lake. Probably look like our dads. Stay away from Asian girls. They'll give you chlamydia. When are you gonna pop your cherry, boy? With somebody else from SNL. So so that's kinda cool working with another SNL castmate.

It is very cool.

And is that just coincidental? Is that something you and Horatio were were trying to put together?

No, we, you know, we didn't put it together, but when when I was approached about doing it, I I was, you know, told early on that there was a good chance Horatio was gonna be involved. So that was even more of an appeal for me. But, uh, no, we, you know, Horatio and I like working together a lot, so that was one of the added bonuses of it. Um, when I first heard about the show, I just knew that it was Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Chris Henchy, their company Gary Sanchez was making it. So I was like, well, that's a great, you know, company to have behind it. We didn't even have a script yet, but I liked the idea of it and I liked, you know, the ideas they had for my character. So I was like, yeah, let's let's do it.

So speaking of Will Ferrell, any Funny or Die videos maybe in the works now that you can recreate Lazy Sunday?

Um, well, we we did a a video for Big Lake, um, starring Chris Gethard, the lead. Um, I think it's called Birth of a Star, maybe how they it tells how they went into the woods and found him and trained him how to speak and become a television actor.

Hmm.

So, yeah, he was he was he was a wild feral being and, uh, this sort of tells that very dramatic story.

So how do you change hats though? Like you're, you know, one day funny guy on TV, then you're animated, you have to be a fish. One day you're a dog, one day you're

Well, you know, it's it's not too hard. I mean, especially with the for with the voiceover stuff, you know, it's you just kind of go in there and try to picture it. You know, it it's it's just all coming out of your out of your voice and I don't know, it's kinda freeing in a way 'cause you don't have to worry what you look like and what your movements are. I kinda just end up going crazy. After the first few minutes of recording a voiceover like that, I'm I'm just sweating because I'm just like physicalizing it so much, you know. Right. Um, but no, it's fun. I mean, it's fun to get to do a variety of things like that.

So what's the future, Chris Parnell, looking like? Where do you wanna go from here? What are you looking to do next?

Well, I'd love to, uh, I'd love to do a bunch of more episodes of Big Lake. I love doing, uh, television. I love doing sitcoms. And then being able to continue to do the voiceover stuff I do and and maybe, you know, uh, occasional movie part. Of course, hopefully still be able to do Dr. Spaceman on 30 Rock.

Sounds like a pretty good career plan there. You're gonna be a busy guy. Sounds like
