Young Hollywood

Yeah. You just realized it now? Quvenzhané Wallis: Yeah.

Young Hollywood

Wow. Quvenzhané Wallis: And the Jané part is fairy. It's Swahili.

Young Hollywood

Well, I know that your co-star, Dwight Henry, you got to choose your co-star in Beasts of the Southern Wild, the director basically. Quvenzhané Wallis: Yeah, cause he had the.

Young Hollywood

You had the fit, but didn't he bring you something sweet? He brought you sweets. Well, guess what we have for you. Bring it on in. Have you ever heard of a churro? I know he brought you buttermilk drops. Quvenzhané Wallis: What is a churro?

Young Hollywood

They're like donuts with like melted chocolate. Quvenzhané Wallis: Yuck.

Young Hollywood

Cheers! Mmm, good. He wants more, you see? Quvenzhané Wallis: I see everything that made me. Beasts! Flying around in invisible pieces. I see that I'm a little piece of a big, big universe.

Young Hollywood

So before so before you got this role, you had never acted before. Quvenzhané Wallis: No.

Young Hollywood

And then I heard that the director sort of worked with you and he would say this is the line, like let's say the line is this, and you would change it. Quvenzhané Wallis: Yeah, after like after one day we would go like at night time and we I would be tired um and we would go to his laptop and he had the script and we would look through the script, see what I like. If I didn't like it I would delete it.

Young Hollywood

I heard that you like Beyoncé. Is that true? Do you like listening to Beyoncé? Quvenzhané Wallis: Yes.

Young Hollywood

So, I I heard that you can do a little mean Beyoncé dance and I want to challenge you because I can do a better one. What do you mean a mean Beyoncé? You wanna see mine? Quvenzhané Wallis: Sure. I bet it's like a stutter.

Young Hollywood

Oh, my eyes burn. My eyes burn. Is that mean it's bad, Quvenzhané? It's not good? Quvenzhané Wallis: Oh, it burn. Is that bad?

Young Hollywood

It was that bad? It was that awesome! Woo! Can I see yours? Okay. Uh uh uh uh

Young Hollywood

Did I hear that you wanna be a dentist? Quvenzhané Wallis: Yes, a dentist. I trust.

Young Hollywood

You still do? So a dentist, that would be the first, a dentist slash actress. Then how are you gonna keep eating sugar if you're gonna be a dentist? Quvenzhané Wallis: Well I am gonna be a dentist with a lot of cavities.

Young Hollywood

You're gonna be the first dentist Oscar-winning actress with a lot of cavities, right? Quvenzhané Wallis: Yeah.

Young Hollywood

So I know in the movie that you had to be in kind of like boots in your underwear through the whole thing, but you look very fashionable today. Quvenzhané Wallis: Yeah.

Young Hollywood

And you got to do a lot of red carpet things. Do you get to sort of pick out your own clothes or? Quvenzhané Wallis: Sort of because my mom has to pick it out and then I wear it. Hmm. And then I have to like it though. So she picks it, I like it, and I wear it.

Young Hollywood

Do you just do you agree usually or do you disagree on fashion? Quvenzhané Wallis: I don't know. Like I know but not like no.

Young Hollywood

So who picked out your bracelets and your shoes? Can we show your shoes? Very cute. Quvenzhané Wallis: I'm a cheerleader, so. Probably wear it out today.

Young Hollywood

You're a cheerleader? Quvenzhané Wallis: Uh-huh.

Young Hollywood

Oh yeah, I forgot to let that. Can you do a cheer? Quvenzhané Wallis: Uh uh I'm gonna do a short one. Okay. I'm gonna do hustle. H-U-S-T-L-E hustle. Tigers, hustle. H-U-S-T-L-E hustle. Tigers, hustle.
