Young Hollywood

What up, Young Hollywood? I am here with Miss Alison Stoner.

Alyson Stoner

Hey. What up, boo?

Young Hollywood

Well, first of all, can we talk about this look? I mean, I woke up feeling like a bumblebee. So,

Alyson Stoner

Listen, ready to sting in the most beautiful way possible. You like that, right?

Young Hollywood

Yes, I do. My god. Okay, can we please talk about this new single?

Alyson Stoner

Yes. We can.

Young Hollywood

So yummy.

Alyson Stoner

Well, most people don't know that I've been writing music since I was 8 years old. I started releasing videos last year on YouTube. I grew my channel to, yeah, to 40 million views, wholly independently, and it was just so indicative of both my passion for it and also my fans, both old and new, being supportive. So, I hit the studio right away and this was one of the first songs that we wrote when it's right.

Young Hollywood

When it's right, and honestly, it is so right. Like, real talk, I listened to it and I was like, "Come through, vocals, come through, production." Like, I love the

Alyson Stoner

Yes. They're there. Surprise.

Young Hollywood

Yes. Now, with the debut of this new single, when it's right, along with another debut. Oh. Um, you came out. Holy what? Holy bug. You came out of whatever, whatever closet, whatever, whatever, you just, you know what I mean? Like, you just show the world who you are and I and I love that. And in a sense, you know, forgive me for saying coming out because I kind of hate that term, but, you know, for people who weren't tuned in to hear, this is what it is, you know?

Alyson Stoner

Yes. Yeah. Yes. No. It's, um, kind of overwhelming to see the response. It's very much like a gamut. It's not just black and white, we love her for it or we hate her for it. Um, but it's very emboldening because now, from here on out, I can write whatever I want and say whatever I want without being like, "Ooh, do I need to"

Young Hollywood

Right.

Alyson Stoner

pretend this isn't, you know, this is a her or a him or a neither or a both.

Young Hollywood

Right. Honestly, I'm just so glad that you you you did it on your own terms. I mean, and I think, you know,

Alyson Stoner

and you're familiar with my faith background, too. And so, you just sort of kind of deny things and you look at them differently and you find other reasons and justifications. And finally, I was like, "I can't. I can't do this."

Young Hollywood

Yes. Mm-hm. Doesn't it feel good?

Alyson Stoner

It does.

Young Hollywood

Don't you feel good?

Alyson Stoner

I do.

Young Hollywood

Like, you can, like, do anything now.

Alyson Stoner

Yeah, I can. Oh my god, I hate you so much right now. I hate you.

Young Hollywood

Well, you're, like, empowering me, so I'm receiving it. I'm glowing. I can feel the energy buzzing off.

Alyson Stoner

I am vibrating with love. I'm thriving.

Young Hollywood

I love it. I'm super stoked for you. Um, but like you were talking about your whole YouTube channel and the fact that you've got over like 40 million views. Crazy. Um, I know you do a lot of covers and things of that nature. So, I want to know, is there anyone in particular that you have not done a cover with that you would love to?

Alyson Stoner

Well, I was going to say Leroy. I've already done a cover with him, but he's just one of my favorite voices. Leroy Sanchez. What up, Leroy? That's my man. Yeah, but I think now that I'm out, maybe exploring with other artists who live in the same space, you know, the Hayley Kiyokos, the Kehlanis. So many beautiful women who are open and went before me.

Young Hollywood

That would be so legendary to hear you and Kehlani on the same record. Now, speaking of really dope artists, are there any other artists out there that you're like obsessed with? Like, people you listen to in the car, you listen to in the shower.

Alyson Stoner

Well, can I tell you the truth?

Young Hollywood

Please do.

Alyson Stoner

The truth is I actually listen mostly to world music.

Young Hollywood

Really?

Alyson Stoner

So, anything from like Indonesian Gamelan to Israeli hip-hop, I was just introduced to.

Young Hollywood

I didn't know that was a thing.

Alyson Stoner

It's a thing.

Young Hollywood

That's dope.

Alyson Stoner

So, I listen to also like Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Do you know Ladysmith?

Young Hollywood

I'm familiar with it.

Alyson Stoner

Okay, there's like a Nigerian pop singer, Simi So. I'm just trying to educate the people that there's there are people outside of the States and they're very awesome and you should listen to them.

Young Hollywood

I love it. So, I want to know, your thoughts on Cardi B's new album. It just came out and I'm in love.

Alyson Stoner

Well, let me also tell you another thing. I listened to the first song off that album on the way here. So, my full review is TBD, but in the meantime, I can tell you Kehlani was on the song, it's called Ring. And I was like, "Oh."

Young Hollywood

Okay, stop. Hold on. We're on the same wavelength. I'm not even kidding. Dead serious. I take a good first one. We got to do the old Hannah Montana. Oh my. Oops. No. It wasn't ever mind either. It's fine. Okay, yeah. All right. But that is my song. Ring featuring Kehlani. I in my head I went, if every song on this is like this one, she's unstoppable.

Alyson Stoner

Yes. Absolutely. Oh my god. But I don't know anything else about that.

Young Hollywood

You know, it's okay. We're on the same exact page. Okay, cool. Alison, you are a freaking gem. I love you. Thank you so much for being here.

Alyson Stoner

Likewise.
