Hey guys. Lesley Robins here in the Young Hollywood studio joined by two-time Tony Award nominee Aaron Bur Sir. Mr. Joshua Henry opening night, I was there. There were no words for you and your performance.

Joshua Henry

Thank you. Thank you. It was a, it was a crazy night. The energy in that room was unbelievable.

Young Hollywood

So for those who don't know, which they should because it's history and it's Hamilton, which is a phenomenon. Tell everyone a little bit about your character and what your role in Hamilton is.

Joshua Henry

Well, I play Aaron Burr and he is the narrator of the of the night. The one thing everyone knows is that he shot Hamilton. But how did we get there, right? And so throughout the night he talks about all the struggles that he went through with Hamilton and how Hamilton came to rise and we go from zero and over two and a half two in hours and 45 minutes, we get to see how his outside life, like how he dealt with people in the public and also his internal struggles. And I think that's the most exciting part about it because you get to see how he got to that place. that he could pull the trigger on his best friend.

Young Hollywood

Now, I'm not gonna challenge you to a duel here cause that would be

Joshua Henry

Because you know how that turns out. That's not for against me, that's not.

Young Hollywood

You'd lose this time.

Joshua Henry

Oh. Okay. Yeah. Oh yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.

Young Hollywood

But, um, we do have a dart board here. You have a dart? I have a dart board in the studio. We got darts. Here we go. Oh, dart. All right, ready? You gonna lead out or should I? You go. I I get it, yeah. One. Two. Bam! Oh, god. Hamilton is still alive. One. Now, it's stuck on something. There's, I think that's a little TV stand over there. So, that's a that's Yeah. Okay. So far your shot stinks. Okay, look, look. Not that mine's any better, but. Shot two, here it is. Okay. One, two. Bam! What's that? 16? Times three? How do you score? I don't know. I'm gonna say it's looks like 6,000 to me.

Joshua Henry

6,000? That's you

Young Hollywood

Yeah, you see it. I see you and I raise you here. Okay, ready. One, two, three. Bam! Oh! It's only appropriate you won. Lin-Manuel Miranda your guru almost took you in, he created In The Heights. That's where you guys started. You were in the ensemble. Okay.

Joshua Henry

I was.

Young Hollywood

You were. Which listen, everyone's gotta start somewhere.

Joshua Henry

Yeah.

Young Hollywood

And now he has taken pretty much a lot of that cast from In The Heights and has brought you all to Hamilton.

Joshua Henry

I've known him, our, his first dream was In The Heights and yes, I was in the ensemble, which was one of the best experiences of my life where I figured out that, hey, someone that's like me, from where I come from, I can tell that story. That was the first time I was like, oh, wow, there's a place for me in this business for me. I said, thank you to Lin because it took him years to do this. Years of dedication of following his dream. And he's a genius, but he's also so down to earth and he's stayed the same dude throughout all this. So, I wanted to say thank you for not only the opportunity, but for following through with your dream as a creator and as an artist, without people like that, we don't have, like I don't have a place, you know, as an actor. And the diversity on the stage that's right now. It could not be at a better time. Right. Right. Your thoughts on that?

Joshua Henry

I mean, it's that's one of the biggest joys of it for me. You know, at the stage door at the end of the night when when families come up and, you know, parents come up with their kids who are just looking at me like just wanting me to sign their program and they're saying like, I, I'm so glad I brought my child to see this. I needed them to know that someone that looks like them, um, can be shining in excellence and I just wanted them to see what's possible. And how we can keep rising together. Keyword, together and I think diversity is a big part of that. Lesley, I'm trying to drop it on you. I'm trying to that's all that's how I feel. That's why it's so important to me to be involved in Hamilton the Musical.

Young Hollywood

The tingles are going on behind my eyes and I feel it.

Joshua Henry

I'm glad. I'm glad, cause that's how I feel every night. I hear it. Yeah. So. But good stuff. Good stuff. That was fun.
