From Netflix's Dear White People, Marque Richardson is hanging out with me. Hello. Yes, yes, throw it up. What up? By the way, had the best entrance into the studio I've ever seen. That was I don't know what you call that, like a A scramble run fall tip touch everybody all at the same time.
Touch everybody all at the same time. Yes. Yeah, yeah. Not get any lawsuits and harassment, something like that just Yeah. Yeah. No, no. You're good. Yes. Yeah. Yeah.
Well, we're all love in here. Yeah. Welcome to our couch. Welcome to our studio.
Thank you.
You matched the, uh, matched the the background very, very well.
Yeah. I tried. I tried.
I love it. I love it. Congratulations. Yeah. Or dogs. This is dumb. Either one. Okay. We're going to play two truths and a lie: the Dear White People Edition. So I'm going to throw you two truths and a lie about the show. Okay. This will be pretty easy for you, I think. Maybe. Maybe not. All right. And then you're going to come back to me with two truths and a lie either about the show, about your cast mates. But whatever, it's it's Marque's choice. So, yeah. Okay. All right. I'll go first though. So, two truths and a lie. Um, the show has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Uh, the second statement: Financial Times called the show "astute and important."
Oh. Oh, I like that. Thank you, Financial Times. Thank you.
They like you. Rotten Tomatoes like you. Financial Times like you. Yeah. They love them. She's like, "It's only one line." It was based on a screenplay. Yes. Yeah. Nice. Okay. So, now come back to me. Give me two truths and a lie.
That's right. Uh, Yvette Browser is our showrunner for Dear White People. Okay. Um, every day I ate breakfast burritos on set. Every day. Okay. Uh, and, uh, I have a, uh, turtle actually.
Oh, man. I know this second one. I feel like you're like a like a super fit dude. I just Yeah.
That is correct. But I ate them like every other day. Every other day.
Okay. I believe that, but every day, I would not I would not buy. Going back for a second to your own experience in college, we were talking earlier. You studied public policy. Yeah. How did you make that detour then into doing what you do now?
Well, I started acting when I was four. So, uh, my parents actually introduced me into this and I grew up, you know, just doing like TV commercials for the most part and didn't start working in TV and film until my junior year of college. And after college, I interned at Will Smith's production company and a management company to kind of, you know, behind the camera.
Were you like like getting coffee for Will and like
All of the above.
Okay. Wow. How did he like his coffee?
Who knows? Black. No, I don't know. I don't know if he drinks coffee or not. But, uh, I know Jada likes candles.
Oh, okay. Oh, so you're like picking up candles?
Oh, yeah. Lighting all the candles. "Jada's coming! Light the candles." Like, okay. I'm trying to light the candles. Okay. "Don't mess up, intern." Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Uh, Marque, this was awesome. I had a ball. Please come back. Season two?
Season two? If we get one. Fingers crossed. Y'all got to let it make it happen. Fingers crossed. Write love letters to Netflix and Lion's Gate. That's right. Thank you so much. Thank you. I was like, which which fist do I do? We'll do We'll do both of that. Yeah. Power. Wonder Twin powers, activate.
