Is it weird that I want to be my next guest when I grow up?
Peyton Elizabeth Lee from Disney Channel's Andy Mack is hanging out with me.
And I want to say like we just did a little Snapchat video when we wore flower crowns and we kind of look related.
Yeah, we definitely did.
I like that.
Yeah.
Congratulations on the show.
It has gotten so much good buzz.
Yay, for another season.
Um and what I want, I mean, if anybody doesn't know, they actually kind of revamped this show because of you, right?
And after you auditioned.
Yeah, definitely.
Um, well, the show, it wasn't really supposed to be about an Asian-American girl.
So, that was definitely something that was different cuz like once they cast me, then like the whole show changed because of that.
No pressure there.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What was your reaction when you found that out?
I was so excited.
It was it was the best feeling ever because, you know, as an actor or an actress, you go through so many auditions where you get no constantly and so it was so exciting because I mean the audition process was kind of long.
So, um, just every audition, my anticipation.
Yeah.
You were almost like 10 auditions.
Yeah, yeah, it was it was crazy.
And not only that, but when you walked in, it wasn't just girls who looks like you.
It was It was everybody.
And that's the hard part cuz then you don't know what they're looking for cuz you're like if they're looking at her, why am I even here, you know.
Right.
Yeah.
What's been your favorite part about being Andy?
She's so fun.
She's quirky.
Yeah, definitely.
I think one of my favorite parts about Andy, the character and the show.
Um, is that she's just so relatable, I think, to everybody.
And, um, you know, she goes through so many different things and the show follows her as she sort of is learning where she fits in in the world.
Being a part of this show, you also get to be a part of the Disney family.
When you go to Disneyland, it's like a whole different experience.
It is a whole different experience.
Okay, so when you, so tell me what that's been like.
Cuz that's kind of my dream come true.
It's insane.
Um, I love meeting fans of the show.
It's really fun and I love just like It's crazy how wide the audience is, you know, how many different kinds of people watch it.
And I think that that's one of my favorite parts is, you know, seeing what people think of it.
And that would definitely be my favorite part about going to Disneyland now.
It's crazy.
It's insane, you know.
Um, I also have just always loved Disneyland, so just being able to go there at all is amazing.
If Andy Mack were a ride at Disneyland, what would it be like?
Ooh, that's a hard one.
I would say We get, we get, we get
Yeah.
get in there here.
Yeah, I know.
I would say it would definitely be a roller coaster because I would say sort of using that metaphor, but um, Andy's life is a roller coaster, I think, with like ups and downs and twists and turns and so there would definitely be like big drops and stuff that would sort of signify, you know, the big changes in life.
Sure.
And maybe a little loop-de-loop, right?
Just to keep things
Just to keep things interesting.
Ups and downs.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Acting runs in your family.
Your dad is an actor as well.
What's the best advice he's ever given you?
Oh, that's so hard.
He's told taught me so much, but I would say one of the most significant things he's ever told me is like you have to love the work, you know.
You can't want to act just so you can be on TV, you know, or just so you can be famous or get a lot of money or whatever.
Uh and so I would say that that's definitely the most important thing because, you know, when you get auditions and you really want them and then you don't get them, you can't, you know, just like be like, I quit, you know, I'm done.
It's over, you know, because you have to get up and go to the next audition because if you don't then you might not get the opportunity that you could have gotten if you went.
Peyton Elizabeth is a is a lovely role model.
She's my role model, actually.
I'm not even kidding.
No.
Totally.
Thank you for coming.
Yeah, of course.
You're lovely.
I like you.
