Pia Toscano Performs Live

I'm Pia Toscano and I'll be performing my single You'll Be King.

Young Hollywood

Thank you for being here.

Pia Toscano Performs Live

Thank you for having me.

Young Hollywood

She just performed unbelievably, her two newest songs. The first one, You'll Be King, has these beautiful, soulful, it's a beautiful ballad. You can see when you're performing, you're very moved by the song and that's a beautiful thing.

Pia Toscano Performs Live

It's a very personal story. It was, you know, something that I went through. So it's like I want people to feel what I felt, or, you know, kind of help them get through it because it's it's a it's a powerful record. Like, you know, at the end of the day, the woman, me, walks away. I just shot the music video.

Young Hollywood

And how was that?

Pia Toscano Performs Live

The concept is beautiful and the story, it's like it really tells the story of the song which is what I needed to achieve and what I really wanted.

Young Hollywood

A lot of your fans know you from, of course, American Idol. And your elimination from American Idol is noted as the most shocking elimination of all time. So how have you gotten from there to here? You've done so many amazing positive things. What's what is it that you did?

Pia Toscano Performs Live

Well, it's a lot of hard work. I think people think the hard work is on American Idol and it is, but the work doesn't start until you leave that stage. And you just have to be really sure of yourself, have a humbleness about you and a confidence, you know, just you have to believe because there's going to be a lot of people in this industry that tell you no and that and it swallows you up and then you start to doubt. And it's just you really I'm guilty of it. Like that happened to me. But the one thing about me is that when people tell me no, I'm like, yes.

Young Hollywood

And you've come out on top and you're currently working very close with J. Lo.

Pia Toscano Performs Live

I am.

Young Hollywood

Can you explain that to us a bit?

Pia Toscano Performs Live

Jennifer has been really good to me since American Idol. She has taken me under her wing and really taught me a lot. And um, she's been like a mentor and a big sister to me.

Young Hollywood

What's something that you've learned about J. Lo that we might not know?

Pia Toscano Performs Live

Um, she's somebody that doesn't stop working. And I feel like all the um the greats like Celine Dion and Jennifer Lopez, Whitney Houston, like you have to always work on your craft. Jennifer's consistently working on her voice, her moves, her acting. I try to get that from her. And then Pyro is like a great vibey song that I can't help but dance to. Pyro is just, you know, this sexy kind of like want to dance on, dance, be with somebody kind of fiery type record.

Young Hollywood

How did you decide to release these two very different songs at the same time?

Pia Toscano Performs Live

I had recorded You'll Be King about two years ago. And then we had done Pyro just like some months ago, like maybe six or seven months ago. And uh, we wanted to give the the fans, like what my tribe is like they're sweet peas I call them. They've been so good to me since American Idol. They've been right there with me. They hadn't heard music from me in a really long time. So I wanted to give something that they knew, like You'll Be King, the big ballad and then, you know, Pyro, I wanted to give them something that was a little left of center.

Young Hollywood

If you weren't on tour with J. Lo and singing and releasing songs and being talented you, what would you want to do instead of being a singer?

Pia Toscano Performs Live

Um, I used to be a makeup artist. I was a I'm a licensed cosmetologist. I went to beauty school. I also would love to work with special needs kids. Like, I I just I love kids in general. I just like just love them. That would be great. Yeah. And uh, yeah, but working with kids, I would definitely say and doing makeup.

Young Hollywood

Well, you have the look, you have the clothes, you have the ring, you have the makeup. What is one fashion tip or one fashion item that you can't live without?

Pia Toscano Performs Live

It would be a makeup tip. Yes. Because like that's like what I'm I just feel like you always need a good lash and a lip. You know, have your skin good.

Young Hollywood

You've been doing so much in Hollywood. If you had to write a song right now about your experience so far, what would the title be?

Pia Toscano Performs Live

I actually did write one.

Young Hollywood

Oh, good. Can we hear it soon?

Pia Toscano Performs Live

Yes. I hopefully on the EP. No, it's not out yet. It's called Belong. There was a time where I was super insecure and, you know, doubted myself and I I felt like very out of place. In this industry, you feel that way. And it's it's a roller coaster ride. It's up and down. You never know what's going to happen. It's very inconsistent. And I feel like a lot of people they look at me and because I try to always be smiling and happy, but

Young Hollywood

And you are.

Pia Toscano Performs Live

I am. I am. I am. I have I'm super happy. There's a lot to be happy about. But you have your moments where you're struggling and things aren't always great. And that's what I wrote Belong about. It was kind of like a song talking to myself. Right. And you know, just encouraging myself to let go. You know, you don't always have to be perfect. It's okay to make mistakes. It's okay to like just be you, like to not always be dolled up and just be just be free with being who you are. So that's what Belong is about. And it was kind of the roller coaster ride that I've dealt with since Idol.

Young Hollywood

Well, that's such a beautiful message. And I can't wait to hear the song. Thank you so much for being with us here today. Pia Toscano, again, everybody.
