I'm Oliver Trevena here in the Young Hollywood studio joined by the handsome Garrett Clayton. How are you?

I do. And you've made it worse. You came in and told me how you just had a haircut. Now I'm even more envious. Because it's

I get I I was caught like like a clown wig or

Clown wig.

Me and my cousins called it circle head. Okay. So I always have to get the hair trimmed a lot shorter on the sides cuz it just turns into like a big.

Circle. Great problems to have. Great problem to have. Did you use did you use hair spray today? Is that why?

A little bit. Oh hair spray. Hair spray. Hair spray. That's funny. Hair spray. You just think cars.

This is amazing. It's exciting. I am excited. Yeah. And a lot of pressure and nerves going into a project like this. Huge cast.

I mean there's always nerves going into anything really, but I don't know it's I've I always I've consistently done live theater for years. And so it feels natural. Like

Right, right.

It feels like I'm just doing the thing I always do.

Exactly.

But nerves always come with any project. Like that's the exciting part. Nerves make it exciting.

But yeah, obviously the musical everyone's seen you know Teen Beach Movie all these things that you've done for years so for you. I guess there's actors that go into these live shows and it's a bit more grueling. But for you, it's

It's more about we have one you got one shot. Right. Instead of theater that you might do a run of something for a month or a year or six months and you kind of get to let things develop a lot more over time and you can discover and always try different things.

Are you going into like any training ahead of rehearsals?

I always try and start doing things that build up endurance because singing and dancing at the same time the Broadway cast used to call you can't stop the beat. You can't stop to breathe.

Okay. Okay, I like that. So

It's hardcore. It's hardcore. Yeah.

And on live TV. How do you do that? How do you train for that?

A lot of cardio a lot of I think they were saying practice singing while running on a treadmill.

I I was just about to say I was in a band back in the day and that's what they made us do.

I think I've I've done a lot of dance musicals on stage. Okay. I've done fame a couple times when I was growing up. And so dancing on the sidewalk was always a feat. Right, right. You know trying to wear some kind of 80s Spandex while kicking your face.

Do that at the weekend. singing.

I do that every day. Something.

Do that every day. Yeah.

I do. I love Spandex. I've got a passion for Spandex.

Moving on from that. Um who are you most excited to work with in the cast? I mean obviously you everyone. I mean it's it's amazing.

I was really excited getting to meet Harvey. Okay. Just cuz he got the Tony working and producing and doing everything he's done. I think he's kind of someone I've looked up to in regards to being able to do what you love but have some control over it. Right.

Now you've worked with a lot of people. Obviously you're continuing to work with a lot of amazing people. If you could have lunch with any celebrity and have it anywhere in the world who would it be and where would it be? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone? It's like a really I sound like a good little start to a musical.

It did. Anyone? That's a love you you're desperate to sing. I can tell. No. Um I don't know. Who would be fun to have lunch with. Crispin Glover maybe.

Oh. He's done some really crazy cool parts. Okay. Yeah. I like that. Now I've noticed you're obviously in good shape. I can see that now and obviously you know you've got your top off a lot.

In the movies and shows. It's another reason why I feel insecure right now. Um but I was also shocked to read you love chocolate. You like you love chocolate.

Oh I have a huge problem eating junk food. Okay. Yeah chocolate and then White Castle.

White Castle, Domino's, McDonald's, breakfast, which I know McDonald's. And this is real. Like you're not just saying this you do eat this stuff.

I do.

So what tell me the secret. Is there some pill I don't know about like a a thing that you take and that means you can eat all that and stay like that.

Yeah just I've I read an interview with with Channing Tatum. Okay. You know you can get in shape for certain things but you also have to give yourself a break and eat whatever you want. Otherwise you'll go crazy. And Yeah. Now I've gotten to take a few weeks and Now back to the. Stop eating horrible things.

If I could say right now we can get any food you want. No, no. Um what would it be?

I would say a chocolate bar with that I could dip in peanut butter.

What chocolate bar?

I need like a good milk chocolate. English chocolate is really nice. Have you tried English chocolate. Really nice. Those little chocolate coins. They have.

The chocolate coins are the best. My parents used to trick me at Christmas give me a bag of chocolate coins. I was like money.

I would yeah I would eat like a whole like bag of it in like 20 minutes. Yeah. Okay. So it'd be that. And some chocolate coins. I get a thin crust triple pepperoni and extra cheese pizza. Vegan. Because my thought of it is and I know a lot of my friends give me crap because I don't get regular pizza, but my thought is if I can minimize the bread and get more toppings.

I'm with you. Thin crust. Maximize the meat. Maximize the flavor.

Right, which is better. Right. Because of cheese. Yeah. And you're not like overtaken by bread. Yeah. And

So we got chocolate coins we got a big huge pepperoni pizza. Yeah. And

This is sounding really good right now. It's really good. Yeah. Maybe I I would have started the morning with like a like a sausage egg and cheese biscuit.

You've by the way you're property I can just see the way you're like you're getting really excited you're like thinking this is happening right now. I'm trying to die again and it sucks.
