She makes awkward hilarious.

Young Hollywood

The lovely Eden Sher is my guest today.

Eden Sher

Hello.

Eden Sher

Hello, hotties.

Young Hollywood

Hello.

Young Hollywood

Hello.

Young Hollywood

I like I like that I make awkward hilarious.

Young Hollywood

You do.

Young Hollywood

She's on the middle, which everybody knows, right?

Young Hollywood

Um, and you play Sue Heck, who I think is kind of my spirit animal.

Young Hollywood

I mean, I can relate to her on so many different levels, as I think many people out there can as well.

Young Hollywood

Do you bring a lot of your own experience to playing her?

Eden Sher

Uh, of course I do.

Eden Sher

I don't, in my, when I'm doing it, it's awkward is not hilarious.

Eden Sher

Awkward is awkward.

Eden Sher

And then people think it's funny because they're probably, even if they're like, "Oh, I relate to that."

Eden Sher

But I'm not as awkward as that.

Eden Sher

That girl just fell on her face.

Young Hollywood

No, no.

Young Hollywood

That character is, is really relatable in a lot of ways.

Young Hollywood

So what's like the fan reaction that you get?

Eden Sher

The reaction from like 12-year-old girls, which is I mean, I don't want to pick favorites.

Eden Sher

I'll like, I'm so appreciative.

Eden Sher

I'll, like, anyone who.

Young Hollywood

But they're your favorite.

Eden Sher

But they're my favorite.

Eden Sher

12-year-old girls, like, if you're a girl between the ages of 10 and 15, right here.

Eden Sher

I don't want to I don't want to do this on my mic, but, like, mine, like, for real, you're my spirit animal.

Young Hollywood

There are huggies, yeah.

Eden Sher

The reaction is usually, um, something like this.

Eden Sher

Oh, um, I'm so sorry.

Eden Sher

I'm so sorry.

Eden Sher

Uh, can I get it?

Eden Sher

Uh, I really love I really love you.

Eden Sher

And I'm always like, "I love you too.

Eden Sher

Relax, girl."

Eden Sher

Like, we're okay.

Eden Sher

It's gonna be okay.

Young Hollywood

It gets better.

Eden Sher

Exactly.

Eden Sher

And, like, it'll get better for you.

Eden Sher

It hasn't for me yet.

Eden Sher

But I'm the same.

Eden Sher

We're the same.

Young Hollywood

You figured it out pretty early that this is what you wanted to do.

Young Hollywood

What was that moment that that made you go, "Yes, I want to be a performer"?

Eden Sher

Um, the moment when some when I got attention, and I was like, "Yes!

Eden Sher

This is what I want to do."

Young Hollywood

And you were comfortable with telling people very personal things about yourself.

Eden Sher

100%.

Eden Sher

It was the one outlet that was kind of like That was something that made me very awkward.

Eden Sher

Not just in high school, not just teenager, just forever, is just the like oversharing thing or, like, just being highly emotional and being like, "No I, like, stop that.

Eden Sher

Stop that."

Eden Sher

And then I just found this thing, this like outlet through which not only was I, like, allowed to be crazy, it was like encouraged.

Eden Sher

I was like allowed to be like loud and just, like, extreme and, like, all over and, like, I got just sing and, like, twist around.

Eden Sher

And so I, like,

Young Hollywood

Do you have an off button somewhere?

Young Hollywood

Is it

Eden Sher

I don't know.

Eden Sher

No.

Eden Sher

No.

Eden Sher

The answer is no.

Young Hollywood

If you find it, let me know.

Eden Sher

I will.

Eden Sher

So when I was, like, really little, I I don't know, like, four or five.

Eden Sher

And then, 'cause I like I begged my mom for, like, years to let me get an agent.

Eden Sher

'Cause then I, like, and I would see things on TV and just be like, "I can do it better than that!

Eden Sher

I swear!"

Eden Sher

And my mom was like, "No, you know, there's a lot of rejection."

Eden Sher

I was like, "I can handle it."

Eden Sher

And the thing is like, for some reason, for being as, like, awkward and, like, like I said, like, whatever, self-loathing and this and that, I was actually always really good at handling rejection, just in that one arena.

Eden Sher

So that's how I was like, "Okay, if this is all it says, if this is, like, a combination of feeling all the feelings and, like, getting rejected a lot, bring it on."

Eden Sher

And memorizing things, I love memorizing things.

Young Hollywood

Really?

Eden Sher

Yeah.

Young Hollywood

What's the most impressive thing that you've memorized?

Young Hollywood

Besides your lines.

Eden Sher

The periodic table of elements.

Young Hollywood

No way!

Eden Sher

Antimony, Arsenic, Aluminum, Selenium, and Hydrogen and Oxygen, Nitrogen, Rhenium, Nickel, Neodymium, Neptunium, Germanium, Iron, Americium, Ruthenium, Uranium, Europium, Zirconium, Lutetium, Vanadium, Lanthanum, and Osmium, and Astatine, Radium.

Eden Sher

Gold, Protactinium, and, damn it.

Eden Sher

Oh, shoot.

Eden Sher

Uh.

Eden Sher

Wait.

Eden Sher

Radium, Gold, Protactinium, and, oh, shoot.

Eden Sher

Oh, I totally forgot the second half.

Eden Sher

The second half is, like, Holmium and Helium, and Hafnium and Erbium, Phosphorus and Francium and Fluorine and Terbium, Manganese and Mercury, Molybdenum, Magnesium, Dysprosium, and Scandium, and Cerium, and Cesium, Lead, Praseodymium, Platinum, Plutonium.

Eden Sher

Oh, my gosh.

Eden Sher

I haven't done it in, like, two years.

Young Hollywood

That was boom.

Young Hollywood

Mic drop.

Young Hollywood

I think we could just end the interview there.

Young Hollywood

That was amazing.

Young Hollywood

You're also in the movie Temps.

Young Hollywood

Everyone in that movie is kind of going through a big change and it speaks to, I think, what a lot of millennials go through, just kind of figuring it out.

Young Hollywood

Was there ever a time that you were unsure of what you wanted to do, I mean, very similar to what's happening in in the movie?

Eden Sher

I was never unsure of what I, like, wanted to do with my life, which there are there are two characters in it, and one of them is, like, super the guy is super, um, doesn't really know what he's doing with his life, and then the girl is much more, um, A-type and kind of, like, really driven.

Eden Sher

And so, I feel like we've all seen that, like, in our friends, right?

Young Hollywood

Those are people we know.

Eden Sher

Those are people we know.

Young Hollywood

Or or in our souls.

Eden Sher

Or us.

Young Hollywood

Or they actually are us.

Eden Sher

Yeah.

Eden Sher

'Cause the movie is really good.

Eden Sher

It kind of capt it totally captures the millennial dilemma.

Eden Sher

This is a sentence that, um, I just, like, happened to, I, like, wrote down or it's in a a poem that I wrote.

Young Hollywood

feelings journal.

Eden Sher

in my feelings journal, yeah.

Eden Sher

A thing that I said that someone said was, "Yeah, you know, I'm just in, like, a really weird place right now."

Eden Sher

And my friend read that and was like, "That sentence just, like, sums up everything."

Eden Sher

And that's, again, that sort of is, like, that brings it back to Temps of just, like, everyone like, people are like, "I'm sorry.

Eden Sher

Like, I can't really do this.

Eden Sher

I'm just in, like, a really weird place right now."

Eden Sher

But, like, everyone's in a really weird place right now.

Eden Sher

We're all weird.

Eden Sher

We all, like,

Young Hollywood

When will this end?

Eden Sher

When when you report back to me when it does.

Young Hollywood

I'll try.

Young Hollywood

I'll tweet it at you.

Eden Sher

Yes, please.

Eden Sher

I'll be like, "It's over!"

Eden Sher

Exclamation point, exclamation point.
