I'm here at Young Hollywood joined on the sofa by the lovely Mallory Jansen and Luke Youngblood. How are you?
Yeah. Good couple of good couple of names you've got guys.
It works. It works.
And these are your real names?
Yeah, they are. Everyone always asks me that.
I think that's not I mean, clearly you've been asked that before.
Yeah, I think it's like the whole Luke thing. I think that's what kind of throws them off.
The Luke part.
The Luke part. Yeah, Youngblood is so common.
Um but exciting things other than your name is uh Galavant.
Yeah. So exciting. We've been having an absolute ball shooting this series.
It looks like it's a lot of fun.
Yeah. So much fun.
Yeah, it's like a comedy musical fairytale.
Yeah, just your typical comedy music fairytale.
Yeah, also just like completely different from anything else that's on TV at the moment and I think that's why we're just We're so excited about it.
Yeah. And privileged to be a part of something like this.
Like Madalena. Sid.
Yeah.
So you're the uh you're the the one that got away.
I am. Yeah, sadly for Galavant.
And you've run off with King Richard.
I have. It's terrible. Women always do that.
This is true.
But look, she she's smelt the money and the fame and the fortune and she's gone for that. I mean, that's the good life, right?
Yeah, she wasn't messing around. I'm sure there's a little love there too, but like
Yeah, just a little bit.
Just a little. Like she loves, loves, loves. A load. You know.
You've you've been in musical, Oliver you were in.
Um yeah, so I was in Oliver which was like the first one of the first big jobs that I had and it was great being on stage and like being in the musical. And it's directed by Sam Mendes who I had no idea at the time. Just this pretty big. Just this guy. And uh it was just so much fun getting to kind of act and sing and be doing it live and I think that's kind of what we felt on this really cuz it was just a mixture of everything that um that we've done before. It really.
It's such a gift. Like no actor gets the opportunity to sing, dance, you know, sword fight, horse ride in one show. Right. Like it's just never
Yeah. Unless I have a really great weekend.
Oh, yeah. You never know. You never know. But was there a lot of preparation going into it? Like from your end as well.
I think for all of us that were. Um there was and there it was like um different things so like for Kara, myself and Josh, cuz we were on the horses quite a bit. We had to do a lot of that and then for you guys it was more kind of like the singing.
Oh, it's a lot of the singing and dancing. I had to learn how to do the tango in three weeks. Oh. Felt like I was on Dancing with the Stars or something.
But you were you were singing before this. Did you enjoy singing?
Uh singing? Yeah. Yeah. I was always in my like high school musical growing up and everything. But um
I thought you were gonna say you were in High School Musical.
Yeah, I thought that's what you were talking about.
No, no, no, no, no, no. No. Um but yeah, then as soon as we got Galavant, we all got thrown into singing lessons again and it's just been great.
Um what's your uh what's your favorite musical of all time?
If it's animated, Hercules. Oh. Yeah. I know it's an odd one. People don't usually go for that.
I don't even think I've seen it.
I saw it twice at the cinema. You've been missing out on life. I don't know what you've been doing. It's amazing.
Oh, yeah. I think you just made me speechless there. Hercules is the last thing I expect from you, but okay.
I love that one.
Okay. I would have to say The Lion King.
Okay. Well. You can probably I probably should have said that considering I was in it.
You were about to say, oh, it was The Lion King.
Yeah. It was that that show that I was in when it first opened. Um no, I absolutely love that show. The music is just sensational. So yeah. I love that.
What's been the highlight so far on Galavant? Cuz obviously first season. It's exciting. It's Is there one one moment in the in the filming or the series that we should look out for that's been a highlight?
For me, I like the episode that aired yesterday and it's probably cuz I'm biased. It's when we got to go to To Sydney Land and um get to meet my parents and you know, it's just it's just a lot of fun and we're all You come from this crazy crazy Jewish family. Yeah, singing in the streets. And it was it was just like one of those days where it was just full on musical number for the whole day. And there's like 50 dancers and everyone just really enjoys themselves on set.
Oh, yeah. Exciting things coming up for you the the in excess biopic.
Yeah. Very exciting. Very excited. So that's already aired in Australia. It did really well. Right. Um it was so much fun to film because it's such a special story for Australia. Right. Right. And um they're just legends down.
Amazing.
Legends. Yeah. Same in the UK.
Yeah. I was gonna say, yeah. Yeah, so um no, I had such a ball filming that. It was really great.
If you could be if you could play the uh part of a biopic, anyone, anyone in the world.
I don't I don't know if there's a particular person I want to play. I just want to be in some kind of
Just pick one, Luke.
Samuel L. Jackson cuz I love all of his movies.
Good one. Good one. Good one. Yeah. Good one. Mallory.
I don't know. I don't know. Um maybe Audrey Hepburn. Oh. I'm obsessed with her.
Mallo as Audrey Hepburn. I could really see that as well. I could really see it. It's amazing. Yeah. Well, it's been a pleasure. Samuel and Audrey. We can wrap this up. Watch them on Galavant.
