I'm here with the gorgeous Imogen Poots.
How are you? Hello. I'm great. Lovely to see you.
Thank you very much, nice to see you too. Yeah. It's a pleasure. Thanks, glad you made time because you're a very busy lady nowadays, aren't you?
Well, there's always time to still pretend to be young Hollywood.
Young Hollywood. I'm pushing, pushing it a little bit, aren't I? Just a little bit.
I'm getting there. 27 now. Just catching up with me these years.
That's a good age to be though. 27.
Yes, it is. I think so. I'm glad that you're playing along with that. It's a crossroads where it's like thank you. You know. Did you really believe that I was 27 when I just said that?
Uh, what? Maybe. A little bit? Did you really?
Just, just a little bit. You've made my day. There you go. I like you even more now. Dreams are real.
Need For Speed.
Yes. Need For Speed. Mhm. Cars. Lots of them. Men. Yes, quite a few. Happy? Testosterone environments such as that. Yeah.
All right, they're They're not a bad looking bunch, are they?
They're not, they're not. It was okay. I mean, it is a lot about the cars too. It is a lot about the cars. The cars are sort of part of the cast. Right. In a big way.
You play Julia.
Yeah. Well car broker. Apparently. Um, and you give Aaron Paul, Toby Marshall, the car. I do, I do. Yes. I arrive in the car. That alone was really, really, um, a challenge for me.
Cause you don't even drive.
I don't, I don't. And I think at that point, I still hadn't really said anything about it. Just nodded and got in the car. It was like oh, crumbs.
Was it a, was it a manual or an automatic?
It was an automatic. Like a golf cart.
Okay, good call. No, really, yeah, that's true. Um, and you're British in the movie.
Yes. And British in real life. Yes, I think so. Yes. So that works well.
It does. Um, but weren't you, you wanted to be American, didn't you?
I kind of did because I, I was I was probably in love with a lot of movies I'd seen. People keep saying what's your favorite race car movie? And they're met with a sort of face of complete disappointment from my end because I don't really know very many. But in terms of something like True Romance or Thelma and Louise. Those, Bonnie and Clyde, those are the films that, um I find really exciting.
Yeah, they're great road trip movies.
Yeah, and I was oh, you kind of front to embody an American role, but, um, apparently a British accent is supposedly exotic. What do you think about that?
I'll take it.
Okay. I'll take it, definitely. It's not as exotic when I'm sitting next to you though.
No, not really. It's not, is it? I'm no longer a novelty on this sofa. Oh, dear. We've established that you're not the biggest fan of cars.
Mhm.
Um, we can definitely say that from the last few minutes. Um, but do you like speed, do you like exhilarating like roller coasters and stuff like that?
Oh, I'm not very good. No, I don't like roller coasters. No. The idea of one, I, again, if someone's like, do you want to go to a theme park? As a kid I'd be like, yeah, obviously, and then wouldn't sleep for 10 days, like anxiety. Um, no. I I don't like the idea of an organ inside of your body sort of being left upstairs as you shoot down. Right. You know, those.
When you put it that way.
Yeah, that's what's happening. Right. That's what's happening.
Yeah, I'm kind of not sold either then. But the speed, uh, the speed is great when you're in the hands of someone who knows exactly what they're doing. So, with these stunt guys, you can just enjoy it and it was What was the fastest you went in the car?
Gosh, I wish I knew. I mean 56 miles an hour. I think I think about, um, I'd say that 60 and above.
Okay. Is 60 fast? No, that's not too impossible. Oh, 80. Hundreds. No. It's like 200. 200 miles an hour.
200 miles an hour? That is crazy. Yeah.
You went 200 miles an hour?
That's right. Putting your life at risk. I know. For the art. And the hair. And the hair. Yeah. The hair. It's it's really inspiring. It really is.
Thank you. Thank you. That's that's clearly why you just keep working because you're willing to do anything.
I am. This is it. Well, I don't think I know. We'll see, we'll see.
Wait for your next role. Okay. Um, two other movies you've got as well.
Yes, that's right. Filth. Mhm. And A Long Way Down. Yep, yep. Let's talk about Filth. Filth is a film that is so close to my heart and uh, the subject matter's slightly insane. Um, but again, an extraordinary performance. Um, James McAvoy is the lead and, um, it's based on the Irvine Welsh novel. Who wrote Trainspotting. Oh. And, um, set in Scotland obviously. Uh, it's I love the film. The director has done something magnificent, um and I'm very, very excited to see what people think of it. It's definitely out there, you know, it's controversial, which is quite hard to, um, do now, I think.
Right. No cars. No cars in that one.
No cars in that one. But another handsome man.
Mhm. This is true. Just saying. Yeah. Just saying. A Long Way Down?
Yes. A Long Way Down is based on Nick Hornby novel. Uh, so Nick Hornby, About A Boy, that's his, right?
Exactly, exactly.
And, um, it's about four characters who meet, um, with the supposed intention of, um, ending their lives. And, um, it shows the sort of blossoming relationships between.
And you're one of the people there?
That's right. I play Jess, who, um, is a sort of, uh, lost, um, teenager and she, um, really learns a lot about life through the others. And I think it's interesting because it sort of shows no matter what age you are, no matter what your life experience, your, um, pain is still, um, validated.
I love that. You've really just made me quite sad as well.
I'm so sorry. Is there anything
You don't want to kill yourself, do you? No, Oliver. Great. Imogen Poots, absolute pleasure. Thank you for stopping in.
Thank you very much, having you.
Need For Speed, watch her in Need For Speed. It's an amazing, exhilarating movie with cars, handsome men and Imogen. You have to watch it.
