'The Host' Cast on Alien Love Triangles

Nikki Novak here in the Young Hollywood studio. Stay tuned. I'm about to chat with the stars of The Host, Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons, and Jake Abel, a. k. a. Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and Blue Ivy. Here with Saoirse, Max, and Jake, great to see you guys. Thanks for coming in.

I'm very comfortable.

So wait, you've been here before. You've been here before. First time. So, The Host, so you guys, you realize the premise of this film. I know it's a sci-fi movie, but the idea of a love box where a woman has two personality, be careful with that phrase, though. No, stick with it. Love box. It's good. We're a woman has to has an alien inside her and has two guys going. Each personality has a relationship with a different guy. Is my a dream. This is my absolute dream. Embracing my alien. What I love is in this film, you go after this man here. He doesn't come after you. This is the reverse. And this is why I love Stephanie Meyer, because she comes to find you.

But I do forcefully kiss her the first time I meet her.

Which is with a head butt.

I want you to remember what we were doing the scene, and you like had to tackle me to the ground, and we were rehearsing and he was like, is this a bit rapey, or?

That's where the passion comes. Kiss me like you want to get slapped. Is one of the most famous.

But doesn't every girl want to be kissed sort of passionately that way? Like where it gets a little

It's a fine line. It's impossible. You're human. Just not you. You know, there needs to be a line drawn right before the punch is actually thrown. But all the passion before that is good.

And that's where Jake comes in. Well, Jake, you fall

You fall in love. Don't you fall in love with her personality before you actually see her? Oh, yeah. How realistic is that? A guy falls in love with a woman's personality before he sees her. Like the dating game, kind of thing.

Yeah. It's a dating game. I'm I Let's be honest, there's gotta be a little bit of both. You gotta be physically attracted to someone to have a long enduring relationship.

And working with Stephanie and, you know, she has such a reputation and and have you guys sort of experienced sort of the crazy fan base that she has yet?

We met someone, we met someone the other day, who was a big fan, who had filed down her own teeth into fangs. Can you think of a more painful thing to do?

My God, you're kidding. So what are they going to do for this film? Eat stake every night. Tattoo their eyeballs. Paint their eyeballs white. You're going to put the contacts in. Yeah. Okay, so we have a series of questions for you guys in the spirit of The Host. If you could inhabit the body of anyone for a day, who would it be?

If I'm in the body just for one day, I would probably pick a bloke. But if not, I would pick I'd pick Beyoncé.

Fantastic.

If it was a few days, go on tour. You know, hang out with Jay.

And what about you guys?

I would, and this is nothing to do with her answer, I'd pick Jay-Z, cuz I think he is the coolest man on the face of the earth. I'd be married. How fantastic would that be?

No, no, I'd pick Blue Ivy.

Maybe Amazing. And your own clothing line. You have your own clothing line.

And and high expectations, mind you. Yes. It's so set up for failure, I'm sorry. Okay, you're about to be occupied by aliens, but you get to enjoy one last meal as a human. What's it going to be?

My mom's Sunday dinner.

Oh, what's that? What's included in that?

It's either roast chicken or um, or lamb, roast lamb, and like mashed potatoes, roast buds, broccoli, carrots, stuffing, all the trimmings, gravy. Yeah. Every Sunday.

Wow, what about you guys?

My mom's Thursday dinner, which is hot dogs and mac and cheese. That's how you do it in America.

I'd have my spaghetti bolognese.

You'd pick your own meal. Well, it comes in a It's a bottle you heat it up. It's really good. So you had me before you said that. I was like, oh, you're cooking me dinner. This sounds great. A man that can cooked.

Bolognaise is the most pleasing meal.

But you see, the thing is, is that if I'm having my mom's Sunday dinner, I'm going to share it with her and my family. You're going to eat that on your own, and then you're going to die.

Give them something to think about.

You're the last human to survive a dystopian future. What's the one item you would have with you?

William Hurt.

Yeah. Like a mini Willi- like a pocket William Hurt. William, what do I do now?

That wasn't your first thought, was it? I sensed it from here. Obviously. I agree with Sasha's thought. I'm going to pass it on to Jake.

All right. Cotton candy.

Oh. Cotton candy land. You are the host with the most, and you're throwing a party. What's your ideal party style? An intimate dinner with friends, a costume party, or a big blowout bash, hangover style.

You know, I wouldn't pick any of those. I'd pick like a big street party where everyone can just come out.

I like a bit of dressing up, me.

Do you?

I do, yeah. When I went to drama school, we we did cross dressing for a week.

Did you? Now, did you have to go in public or just in class?

We had to go out and get our sandwiches at lunch and all that kind of thing. We had to stick with it for a week.

And how did you look as a woman?

Oh, sexy. It was makeup, it was I had a shaved head at the time. I had a little black dress and I went for the Eastern European model look. And I'll leave you with that.
