Lana Condor Shows Her Comedy Side In Netflix Series

Hi, good to see you again.

I feel like I just saw you. I feel like we just talked about Moonshot like a couple weeks ago. You're so busy. Um, and you guys look great, your orange coordinated.

Completely accidental, but you didn't plan that. No. No, not at all. But we're on the same wavelength.

We are. We always have been. It's so weird. Like literally since the first moment I met you, we like you get out of my brain.

No. Get out.

No. I won't.

A lot of the comments were about Lana, how you were in more of a comedy role and everybody's freaking out because you got to show more of your funny side. So, Lana, how do you feel about that and Zoey, how funny would you rate Lana in your life?

Um, yeah, I mean, this is that like Bad, we call her bad bitch Erica. Like bad bitch Erica is so bitchy. She's like, oh she's kind of the worst. Um she is the worst. but in in that, in playing the worst, you can have quite a lot of fun as an actor. Um and so I think it was really exciting for me to kind of dive deeper into this comedy world and, you know, I've done, I've done rom-coms, but that's more of a subtle kind of comedy. And so this is very much in your face comedy. Um and they are writers wrote jokes that they wanted us to hit. Um and it was really, I think it was really fun. Um it was very different for me, um and pushed me out of my comfort zone, um at times, but ultimately like I feel really grateful that I was able to kind of like work that comedy muscle because I do have so much fun, um you know, making myself laugh and hopefully others.

Um in terms of rating, I give you like a 1 million out of 10.

What? You're so cute. You make me laugh all the time. Really? Like actual laugh though, like

No. No, yes. Yes, actually, of course, actually. No, not at all. But you know, I all of this, you always, like, you brought Lana's scenes to life, it's incredible. You never broke, ever.

What? You never broke. Wait, you broke one time.

Yes, I did, when you were staring at my forehead. We had a time that we were filming and the eye line didn't work for some reason. And so they told me that I had to look at Lana's forehead instead of her eyes. And we could not do it. We couldn't do it. It was so funny.

But you were but that we were laughing at the circumstance, not my incredible comedic genius. Not your forehead. I'm just so, I'm just in so in the zone when I'm working that I'm like not even aware of what's going on.

Yeah. You guys known each other pre the show? Or no, you met?

No. Nope. So we met in chemistry reads, um over the summer. And then Zoey was cast and she was by far the She's an amazing actor and she's by far the best that anyone that we read. Um, and then we met for rehearsals.

Yeah. Which the chemistry read was on Zoom, which like it was because of the Zoom once, so I feel like when you're in an in-person chemistry, you can like kind of chat with somebody as well a little bit, but because of the Zoom, it's kind of like you get filled in, you do the stuff and then you end the Zoom. So it's like so much more impersonal than being like in real life. Uh, but then yeah, I feel like we connected so quickly at our rehearsal and then we just like jumped into it and it was We got so lucky. It's crazy.

I mean, how could we not? It's a good thing we got along. We had to spend so much time together. True.

And besides the forehead thing, what was your favorite behind the scenes memory that you had and we talked to Mason and a Parna too, so maybe a whole cast thing between you guys.

What did they say?

They said, we they just said they had a blast and everyone is so friendly and that just everything, because it was like their first kind of like Yeah. Netflix experience type thing. So is the question like wait, what's the question? Your favorite behind the scenes moment, either between you two, the whole cast or just something that you won't forget. What would that be?

I mean, like

Oh, I know. I get the opportunity to say it. My favorite moment behind the scenes. We had a scene where we were driving, when we were driving past the moose. And she had to back up the car. Oh no. And the car windows were open. The car windows were open. And she was terrified of backing up the car. And she backed up and a tree flew into my window and hit me in the face. She backed into a tree. And the tree flew And I was, Zoey and I'm recording while it happens. So I was screaming like, because there's just a full on tree like in her face. Yeah. Zoey loved that. I just said I wanted to say it. I did. I had to out you.

I feel like I love like you know what my best memory was? Zoey, I'm not sure if you were there that day, um, which would have sucked. That's why I probably why it's your favorite memory. That's why it was the favorite. I know. But Adele, Adele came out with um her new single Easy on Me and I was, I'm obsessed with Adele. And so I made the entire cast and crew sit down for 3 minutes and 48 seconds and meditate to Adele's new single. And um that was also during the time, uh, where you know, we were really making sure that we were providing rest to our crews. Do rest to our crews. And so I was like, listen, let's take 5 minutes. Let's all sit down. Put your work down. Let's listen to Easy on Me, because like let's all just take it easy. And that was probably one of my favorite memories on set.

I heard the lore. I heard the tales of that day.

The tales. So you didn't miss it. You still found out.

I know. I know. I know. I saw videos. It's okay. It happened.
