Ava Michelle & Anjelika Washington on How Tall Girl 2 Raises The Bar

Thank you. Congrats on Tall Girl 2. When did when did each of you find out, like, the second you found out that there was going to be a sequel?

I like don't remember where I was. Somebody asked me this question. I feel like it was something that was just said for such a long time and we didn't actually know if it was going to happen. Because it was said that it was going to happen before for the first one aired. Um, yes, before the first one aired, we were talking about it and then, you know, a pandemic happened. And I don't think anyone knew what was going to happen. Um, but I feel like the official was like when we got sent the script. We were like, oh, okay, this is actually happening. Um, which was super exciting. Yeah.

Yeah. Really exciting. I know that I was on set actually filming Star Girl. And, um, my manager called me and was like, we just got the script for Tall Girl 2. And I was like, oh, it's happening. We're doing it. Amazing. Um, because I love working with Ava and I love this whole cast. So I was so excited to be able to go back and do it again and the whole time we filmed the first one, we were like, I really hope we can do this again one day. Like, I really hope. So, I was I just feel so blessed that we actually got a chance to do it. Yeah.

That's so cute. Plus it's like funny because it's like you'd think the cast of the actual movie would know sooner than. But you're just like find out as you go kinda thing, so.

Yeah, it's like, oh, they were writing something the whole time? I had no idea.

I know, it's so fun. So excited, though.

What is the what was the biggest difference from filming the first one to the second one because obviously you guys, the movie, the first movie blew up, like you guys, social media went up kinda thing. So what was what was it like on set the second time around?

Yeah, first of all, I none of us had any idea that was gonna happen on the first one. Um, but I think the second one, something that was so special to me was just the the bonds that we created from filming that first one and having a couple years in between it. Like Angelica and I became so close and I think our characters being able to continue their journey was something that's so so special to us and, um, you know, being able to to dance on this one as well. I mean, there's so many fun things that happened. Um, but I also think something that was different for me was going into the other one, I felt like I had so much to prove as as an actor and like coming into it and then this one, I feel like it was even more. There's so much expectation, so it's just really wanting to try to raise that bar as much as possible with everyone who is a part of it.

Totally. Um, for me, I think Ava hit hit part of it as well. Like going into the second one, I already had relationships with all these people outside of the film, um, particularly with Ava. So I was like, oh, okay, great. I get to be with my girl again. This is amazing. Everything's gonna be fine. It's gonna be great. Um, and like there was this one moment that really sticks out to me where I was so nervous to sing because I've never sing sang in a movie before and I like had a full like crying meltdown in my hotel room and I like called Ava and she was like, okay. And she came over, her and Sabrina, they both came over and they were like, they were helping me and they were also just like, just just just just loving me and being what I really needed at that moment. And I don't think I would've done that in Tall Girl one. I think I would've hid it because I didn't have real relationships with them outside of filming that I would feel comfortable enough to like lean on them. And so I definitely had that in the second and I'm so grateful for it. It all worked out. I sang, it was a good time. It was awesome.

Did you see very nervous. So good. So nice that you guys are actually friends like offscreen, you know, because you never know.

Yeah, thank God. We got so so lucky. Like I couldn't imagine anyone else. It's yeah.

And then one more quick question. So if you guys were taken out of Tall Girl 2 and who do you think would be your best friend from the cast, like in that was your life, but who would be your actual best friend?

Each other.

Yes, for sure. One hundred percent. One hundred percent. So that would be it. In real life. Yeah. But we are so it makes sense.

Yeah. I think Tall Girl, Tall Girls three best friends should happen. Which is just And then it just you guys just just your lives for like a month inside and out. Tall and short friend.

I mean, I'm even willing like Tall Girl 3, Jodie and Angelica take Paris. You know what I mean? Like Yeah. We're going on location. Like I have many ideas. Yeah, absolutely.
