Diamond White

I'm Diamond White and I'm fred tad ashore and we're at the moon girl and devil dinosaur premiere at Disneyland.

Young Hollywood

How did you figure out that you can do these dinosaur noises like? When did you discover that you were so good at it?

Marvel's Moon Girl

Well, you're very kind. Thank you. It was many years ago actually. I was into do always Impersonating things and I was really into recording when I was a kid. I had a tape recorder actually, my dad's tape recorder and I used to practice animal sounds and people and and all sorts of voices I hear on the tv or the radio. And so this is kind of a dream come true, doing this.

Young Hollywood

How would you rate his dinosaur noises? Obviously she rollerblades everywhere. Are you good at it in real life?

Marvel's Moon Girl

Oh honey, no, I am not good at having wheels on my feet. I don't think that's a natural thing. I'm very impressed with all the roller skaters out there, but it is not for me.

Young Hollywood

Okay, we have three this or that questions. Okay, so preference, supervillain or super genius.

Marvel's Moon Girl

Super genius. Like lou nella does super genius tv shows or movies, Tv shows, you know, it's a tough one. I'll just do tv shows. Yeah, I love movies though, dress up or dress down, comfy or full glam, dress up, cozy, comfy, anytime I don't have to put on makeup or heels. I'm their dress up to be comfy. Yeah.

Young Hollywood

Okay, last one time machine or magic wand

Marvel's Moon Girl

magic wand everything boy, I might have to look at that time machine. Yeah.

Young Hollywood

Okay, so le nella is your first on screen, Grand baby.

Marvel's Moon Girl

Yes. And you know what, Lynell and I have secrets that will discover deeper into the episodes. So her and grams have some secrets together. Yeah.

Young Hollywood

Did you know Diamond before you book the show?

Marvel's Moon Girl

I did not.

Young Hollywood

Did you guys get to meet in person?

Marvel's Moon Girl

Yes, we had I think we had a couple of sessions of actual sessions together. We were so excited because a lot of times you're just on your own and you and your recording and every time I went away, you know, you're working and doing things, it takes a couple of years and they say, you know, come when you've got some time, do you have any time? And every time I would come away, maybe a project that's very serious and to sit and work this, I would just get so joyful. It was like a holiday. And so the time that we actually got to be on mike together, we were just getting it was wonderful. Yeah.

Young Hollywood

Would you ever want to own a rollerblading rink in real life?

Marvel's Moon Girl

I'm gonna tell you something. I like one of those people that, like, straightaways, when I'm stating, you know, walking in a circle with other people walking in circles, I couldn't do. But I think, you know? But yeah, I'd like, maybe like roller roller blading runways, where you're just like, you know, venice beach, how they Rollerblade girl.

Diamond White

Okay, I'm gonna tell you, I've been in L. A. 40 something years, so we went through different incarnations of skating, but I remember it was, you know, I would be on stage over the Huntington Hartford Theater and we would be doing for Colored Girls and we would on the days that we had matinees, we'd have like a two hour break, we'd like fly out to the beach and put on our bikinis and roller blading and all with me. I'm daring, but I'm not, I'm not a precision person. So I go flying down, I get going too fast and I can't get around people, I just hit the sand, you know, and we will be on stage when we came back from our break and you'd be on stage and you look down and people had sand around. Yeah, I know the venice boardwalk, very familiar. That's the best story ever. That's literally the best. And I think I think I've really got the in line skates because I wanted to be in my bikini that was just so cool. Like skating in your bikini. And I love that.

Young Hollywood

What is the biggest difference for you between in person acting and voicing an animated character.

Marvel's Moon Girl

First of all, you don't have to wear makeup and hair, so you're just yourself. So it's more, you know, the thing that's freeing is you're doing without people seeing you. So the gesture, none of that can help you communicate. So you have to put it all in your voice, but when you're doing it, you've got to get into weird positions to get certain sound, but it reminds me of when you're playing and you know, you get sent to your room and you and your siblings are in the room and you just start mucking about, you know, messing around. It's how we used to play, it's inhibited, uninhibited. And so it's a really freeing experience and actually I feel when I go back I've opened up parts of my voice, parts of my uh you know, letting go of self consciousness. I like doing it. It's like taking a good car out to the desert and flooring it.

Young Hollywood

Supervillain or super genius. What would you rather be in real life?

Diamond White

Super villain tv shows or movies, films, dress up or dress down, comfy or full glam. I like to be a little close as possible without the glam but feeling pretty okay, one more time machine or magic wand, magic wand, Easy won everything there. You might have to go back to middle school and it's like I ain't going back there.

Young Hollywood

Okay, so you are grandpa in the show?

Gary Anthony Williams

Yeah, my name is gary, Anthony Williams in real life on the show, I'm pops, I'm loony Ella's granddad and I'm also, I'm a huge fan of my granddaughter lou nella, I'm also a huge fan of Moon girl, even though I don't know, they're the same people, but I kind of keep the family together at my roller rink.

Young Hollywood

Think if it was real life you'd be able to tell it was the same person.

Gary Anthony Williams

No, I think not because I don't think I would know that Lynel and Moon Girl are the same person just because they act so differently. Like at home Lou nella is very all science brain and not much action though. She's a great roller skater and then you see her in action, a superhero action. So I think I would get a little bit confused.

Young Hollywood

Do you think you would ever want to own a roller skating rink in real life?

Gary Anthony Williams

I would love to own a roller skating rink in real life. I would probably want someone to teach me to roller skate first. That seems like a pretty important thing to do as the guy who owned the roller skating rink. But it seems so much fun like families come to meet their friends, come to meet their community. So yeah, I'd love to wait, are you offering to sell me a roller skate? I will buy that roller skating. You don't know how to say no, I don't. I just got a brand new pair of roller rinks. Moon girl double dinosaur roller skates. I made that a requirement to get the part. No, you had to learn. I would have learned because I'm looking at them. They're sitting by my front door right now and my girlfriend goes, I'll teach you how to roller skate, I'm like, yes, I'm doing it before this year is over. You will see me either up or down on roller skates, down on the ground or in the air. I don't know we have this or that there's scenarios and you pick which one you prefer, I'm ready for this or that.

Young Hollywood

Would you rather be a supervillain or a super genius,

Gary Anthony Williams

super genius.

Young Hollywood

Next question, tv shows or movies,

Gary Anthony Williams

movies,

Young Hollywood

dress up or dress down,

Gary Anthony Williams

dress down

Young Hollywood

time machine or magic wand

Gary Anthony Williams

time machine. I'd build a time machine to go back and find magic wands. There you go. Then you got everything you wanted

Young Hollywood

Moon girl or dinosaur

Gary Anthony Williams

wow cannot separate Moon girl from devil dinosaur question Yeah, I'm going with, I got to go with the package, I got to go with the package

Young Hollywood

Los Angeles or new york city.

Gary Anthony Williams

Los Angeles. Los Angeles

Young Hollywood

start immediately or wait until last minute.

Gary Anthony Williams

I want to be a start immediate guy. I want to be that guy, so I'm gonna say that I'm going to say start immediately. Everything I do, I start immediately. Sometimes I'm in my car driving to get a coffee in the morning before I even wake up I start immediately. Yeah,

Young Hollywood

okay, thank you so much, congratulations on the show,

Gary Anthony Williams

thank you very much. It feels good to be young and in Hollywood and if you don't watch Moon girl and devil dinosaur, I'll come to your house, you don't want that. You don't want that, like don't explain that. That's w

Young Hollywood

Okay, so Casey wasn't in the original comic book, so you are like the new version of it.

Marvel's Moon Girl

Yeah, totally. I when I went in to meet with the creatives, initially I like went to the comic book store and I like picked up like five Moon Girl and devil dinosaurs and I was like, looking through and I was like, where's Casey and I go? And I was like, you know, at what point does Casey come in? And they were like, you know, she's a new character that we're adding in and she's gonna be part of the origin story and it's felt very like and it's been very special getting to create this character with them. Like initially when I auditioned for, it was just Latina and they were like, you know, we know that you're Latina and jewish. Like what do you think about her being jewish as well? And I was like, I love that. And so like, you know, that's that's been a part of it's just been a lot of stuff like that that has made it very like real and you were able to put like your own little twist on her totally. Yeah. Yeah.

Marvel's Moon Girl

And like Diamond, I got two record most of our episodes together and stuff and they really encourage us to like play and ad lib and adds hello just talking about you. Um And uh yeah, and and a lot of that stuff that we like ad lib and stuff kind of makes it onto the, into the cut, which is very cool and you know, diamond before getting the part. No, we didn't, we met and immediately I think we were just like, I love you and yeah, where do you live? I live in new york.

Young Hollywood

Okay, so you're in new york city, so you kind of very familiar with the city? What is your favorite thing about the city?

Marvel's Moon Girl

Okay, my favorite places in the city are I live, I live in the lower east side actually and the metro, one of the movie theaters, that's like, that's like old movies and movie nerd and it's around the corner for me and that's one of my favorite places in the city and I think I just love the access to anything at all times. Yeah, I can go see this, go to this little movie theater and like see a 19 sixties movie and then like, you know, grab a hot dog or dumplings and like whatever it is, would you rather be a supervillain or super genius in your real life? Super genius. But if I could combine them tv shows or movies, movies, dress up or dress down, dress up time machine or magic wand. That's a hard one. Magic wand because I think I could probably make that do some time travel stuff in there too smarter, not harder cause time or rewind time, rewind time. Facetime or text Facetime, Moon girl and devil dinosaur girl. My best friend naturally start immediately or wait until last minute you procrastinate. Wait until the last minute. I wish I would start immediately. Tiktoker instagram. I this is a hard one because I think that Tiktok is the better app, but I'm not really, I'm unfortunately mostly on instagram and last one, Los Angeles or new york city home or here in new york city. 100%. Thank you so much. Congratulations. Thank you so much. 50 plus.
