'Hunger Games' Stars Quench Their Geek Appetites at Comic-Con

Who would win? In a battle of wit and skill and power and strength. Nikki Novak here with a very hard-working cast of The Hunger Games. Amandla Stenberg, Willow Shields, Jack Quaid and Dayo Okeniyi. Was this the training, this was like the training for Hunger Games. Is that what it involved? Lifting mics?

Yeah, this is very, very heavy mics, yeah. Very aggressive training. Yeah, we went from this to like a boom mic to like yeah.

Can they bench you?

They can.

Are you wearing Burberry again today?

No, I'm wearing Max Mara.

My goodness. Fashionista. The last time we talked to you guys, the film hadn't even come out yet. How have your lives changed since then? Has it been just crazy?

Yes. Yeah, it definitely has. I mean, it's weird to go down the street and get recognized. It's definitely, I'm still adjusting to it, I'd say.

And how's it been at Comic-Con?

Really fun, man, this is like geek's paradise. I mean I know, I mean, we, we literally got off the train and Jack was like, dude, I'm going to the floor. No, like we rested for like two seconds. We're like, I can't. Yeah, I can't. We can't. Yeah. We have to be part of it. So yeah, we went and like walked the floor a little bit and uh, it was, it's, it's eye candy everywhere. Like, oh my God, it was nuts.

So what's the craziest costumes that you guys have seen besides mine so far?

We just saw a Snow White costume actually as we were walking past and that was really cool. And then I also saw a Merida from Brave.

You guys have seen people dressed up as you guys?

I've seen a couple of Katnises. Yeah, Katnises. Yeah.

Well, I know we talked to you guys before about a lot of practical jokes that went on behind the scenes, but behind the scenes, which of the four of you speaking of geeks is the biggest geek?

Jack.

I knew it. I was waiting for you guys to say it and then I was like, okay, yeah. Probably. Yeah, definitely. Waiting to say it in unison.

Yeah, exactly. But he owns it. He owns it though. That's the beautiful part. Yeah, I'm a geek. I don't care what you think. I don't care what you think.

So we know the DVD and Blu-ray is coming out and I know you guys released like some behind the scenes stuff. Any little stories?

We talk about the diet stories. We weren't allowed to eat bread or any kind of carbs whatsoever. Oh yeah.

Why?

We just, cuz bread is awesome. Yeah. Bread is awesome.

Let's talk about bread for a second. Okay, let's talk about bread. We're guys going to Subway cuz there's a lot of bread. What's the sandwich called? What's on it?

The meatball sub. I kinda, I kinda customize it, Italian bread, buffalo chicken, banana peppers, lettuce.

Oh, you gotta get you gotta get like the jalapeño. Jalapeño is good. Cheese bread. Oh yeah, really? All of them. All the spice. What would be the name?

Spicy Fantastic. I don't know why that but I don't know. The called the spicy fantastic. I don't know. Cheesy deliciousness. I don't know. The grilled Monsieur. What's it called? It's great.

Fancy. It's all the Burberry and Max Mara she's wearing. So if you guys could have any superpower, cuz I know in the film you guys just have to use your, your strength and your skill. If you could have any superpower, seeing as we're at Comic-Con, what would it be?

It would either be flying, stopping time or being invisible. Oh my God, all three really good.

Maybe you can have. Oh my God, she just sold them all.

Or reading minds.

Yeah. Reading minds would be pretty cool, yeah. I would just say anything that helps me avoid air travel at any point. Just that, that would, that would be it. Yeah. Teleportation, flight, whatever.

Real-life battle between the two of you. Is this, is this you saying go? I'm saying go. Is it go right now? Who would win? In a battle of wit and skill and power and strength.

Dayo, for sure, with the power and strength. You heard it here first, people. No, it's just obvious look at us. I think wins in modesty.

Um, how are you feeling about, there's so much casting news and all that going on. How are you feeling about?

I can't wait. I'm so excited. I mean, the first one was like amazing to film. I made friends. And I can't wait to do it all over again in Catching Fire.

Okay. And seeing as we're, the Green Lantern can make anything happen. I can grant wishes. Flashbacks. So are you going to give us a wish? I am. What are, what are your wishes?

One wish. One billion dollars. Manifest it right now. And dollars just go. Yeah, just go and do whatever you want. Yeah.

I would like all the superpowers that we listed earlier.

Cuz you could get. Nice. Yeah. Cuz you could just make that money using super powers. make money. being a superhero, I think. Yeah.

And I know we talked to you in the studio about when you auditioned, you had rocks in your pocket, that was your secret weapon. Do you guys have any like secret behind the scenes when you audition, rituals or anything like that?

Oh, we can't really say our ritual. Remember that? Oh, yeah, no, we can't say that on TV. But, uh, yeah, I, I definitely have a ritual going in and and going, walking out of auditions.

Well, it's kinda like, it's kinda you just go in, you're like, you're like, screw it. Like you just gotta go in with that attitude. You know what I'm saying? But not screw. Not yeah. We say children here. We are children. But it's you are. It's an attitude thing. We are little children. You know, you you prepare, you prepare, prepare. When you walk in, you just kinda have to go, forget about it. And then when you walk out, say, forget about it. Let's do, let's just let it all go. Let's go. We're going to go. Whatever. Cool.
