Nikki Novak here for Young Hollywood. Do you want to know what men think? Well, I'm about to find out on the set of TV's Men at Work. I am here with Adam Bush. How are you?
I'm good, good. How are you?
I don't recognize you from earlier today. You were in quite the concoction in bed screaming to yourself.
I was in a a wet suit that you wear while you sleep and it works out for you while you're in bed. Help! Is that what it was? Yeah, that's what it was. It looked a bit like I was holding everybody hostage.
So I'm gonna take a little um, quote from Full Steam magazine. I can see on the wall one of the articles in the magazine is how to survive a chick flick. Now that you're on this show, I've got very interview prep basically consist of looking at the wall, looking around at the walls around you and coming up with questions from the words that you see in front of you. I like to work on the spot.
All right. Well, I did a ton of research on Young Hollywood before this. I'm a little disappointed.
Do tell us. Do tell us about us?
Um, you're a YouTube channel and you service all of Young Hollywood and letting them know what they should be into and have Young Hollywood come and be a part of it and advise people on what they should be doing. And like whenever there's an event involving Young Hollywood, there you are. So naturally we are here.
Right. So how do we survive a chick flick? Cuz this is what we came to find out.
Well, from what I've seen is that the at least there's one thing at least in terms of magazines like this and movies like that that men and women have in common is they both like looking at attractive women. Women do like looking at attractive women. Even if you're working out or even if you're want to change your diet or it's someone you admire, you're never like, God, look at the Matthey looks amazing in this. Dude, come here. You got to see this. But everyone does. Like you'll see women reading magazines with beautiful women in them. So I think that's something that could bring everybody together.
So Brecken Myers said that he created the show because he wanted to make himself laugh. That's why he wrote the show.
Yeah, that's definitely what's happening every day here is we're trying to he's trying to make us laugh and then we try to make him laugh with what he wrote for us.
Did you know that Brecken has nicknamed all of you on the show?
I I did not know that. What's what's my nickname?
Magic.
I am the magic man.
Why does he call you magic?
I think it's because my beard's really soft.
Really? Yeah. Can I? Much softer than I expected. So it's obviously a very male show. Yeah. Let's break down the male psyche, okay? Oh okay. I know you guys have been compared to Sex and the City. You're like the male Sex and the City. And on Sex and the City, there was something called secret single behavior. Okay. Which is something you would do in private that you would never do when you were in a relationship. Okay. What might Tyler, your character, what might his secret single behavior be?
You definitely see a lot of secret single behavior of men on this show. And my character's what I'm reminded of is tonight's episode that airs tonight. Um, we learn a lot about how Tyler lives and his place is like it looks good but you can't touch anything because it's all falling apart because he doesn't actually care about it. He never spends any time there. And his like very specific secret single behavior is that he has a very special toilet that is only his that no one
Is this the magic toilet I've heard about?
Yeah. And it is.
Okay, what is the magic toilet?
It is uh just this spectacular toilet that has an MP3 player and special lighting and it's voice command and it's got all manner of jets and steam situations and yeah. Danny Masterson has one of these toilets for real.
He does not.
Yeah. He really does have one. And when I when I read the script, I turned around and was like, do things like this exist? And he was like, yeah, I got one buddy. And he told me all about it.
In the heterosexual world, everything is safe if you have a smiley face at the end. They're like conversational condoms. Really?
Absolutely, man. You can say the filthiest, naughtiest stuff to each other and it's all in fun as long as you end it with that bad boy.
Okay. Good to know. Your Subway sub. What are you putting on it? What's it called?
Okay. It's the um flatbread with turkey and Swiss cheese and black olives and green peppers and a little bit of light mayo. Just a little bit. Un poquito. Just a tiny little bit. And then you make them toast it. And it's called Casper von Straton.
I'll talk very quietly. They're going to start rolling in a second. What would your Subway sub be called and what would be on it?
Uh my heartbroken Subway sub. I think my sad one would be like a salad with a lot of protein on it. And my happy one would be like bread with a lot of cookies in the middle. That would be my on a good day because I'm just a cookie guy.
What's the James sandwich called and what's on it?
Oh, at Subway? Yeah. Uh uh the feel good sandwich. Yeah. Go on get you go go on get you some of that feel good right there. It's uh what has got? It's got some pickles. It's got some onions. Uh a little bit of tuna. It's on wheat. I don't know what's on the feel good sandwich, but you can call it that.
Congratulations. Essence magazine just named you one of Summer's hottest bachelors.
They did?
They did. Did you not know this?
No, this is news to me.
Are we breaking news for you?
Yeah. I'm uh I'm uh I'm flattered.
So I know you just joined Twitter.
Yeah. What's up Twitter folks? Twitter followers. How y'all doing? Tweet.
If you could have one person, if you turn on your computer, one person's following you. Who would that ultimate person be?
Maya Angelou.
Well, I know Milo's just had a heartbreak. And sort of that's sort of the center of the show, the premise of the whole show.
Yeah.
And he's been with his he had been with his gal, who's uh Amy Smart for a very long time. Um and so he's a little um a little slow on the way the current dating world works with a little extra texting and Facebooking. People put things on Twitter and whatnot. He sort of wants to still make a phone call and go on a date. So the guys are always trying to teach him to trying to teach him the modern way of of of dating in 2012.
Been on a date before, right? Give her a call? No, we will not. Yeah. Yeah. What? Times have changed. Yeah. It's not all Ataris and beepers out there. We got a black president now. You don't call. You text. Backer versus
Right. And he's back. This show is based on a breakup pretty much. What do men do? We know what women do when they break up with their guys. They eat ice cream. They watch chick flicks. What do men do?
Two things. The only thing that gets you over a breakup is someone new. Like that's it. It's the only thing you can do. So that's why in this show and in real life, people are encouraged to the only way to forget about the past is to focus on the future. That's it. And the other thing that men do and this probably answers a lot of questions because I've realized this is kind of a theme. Like men talk about sports and politics, but they're really talking about other things. Like you're communicating how you feel about life and about what you're going through and your feelings through sports.
You mean example?
Like, God, look at look at the way he's holding his golf club. Like he really needs to loosen up. You're like, wow, you're a little aggressive. Yeah. But you just needs to tighten up his grip and stop looking up so much. And it's like, what's really going on? Because you're really not that upset about the way he's holding his golf club. Clearly, there's anger about something else being communicated through that. So, if you listen closely, you can hear men saying everything they're feeling and everything that's going on, just not using those words, using other words.
I've learned a lot here today.
Me too.
Really? What else what else have you learned about Young Hollywood? In the last five minutes?
Um, you're allowed to say whatever you want.
