Hi, I'm Takeo Spikes for Young Hollywood here at the ESPY's 2012. Here with all pro, all everything linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers, my brother, my boy, Patrick Willis. Pat, how you doing today?
I'm doing fabulous, man. I'm doing even better after the introduction you just gave me.
Are you up for any nominations tonight?
We are team-wise. We are team-wise. I just found out uh, we're up for best game um, I believe it is. And uh, just found that out like maybe a few hours ago.
What inspired the outfit today?
Ah, man, when I felt that heat, you know, I always tell my uh, my tailor, you know, make sure I got a black suit, yeah, I can wear that. But if it's hot, I need something that's gonna keep me cool. So he did that for me. So I went with the cool one today.
What what should we look for this year coming up?
I mean, what you should look for is having the Denver Broncos win the West Division. Really, we want to shock the world. That's the whole game plan to shock the world because you know people don't believe in the Denver Broncos. And you know our job is to make everybody to believe.
I want to know your fresh take on the ESPY's Awards show compared to anybody else, let's say at the Grammy's, the BET Awards. What's your take on that?
Well, this is our Sports Grammy's, so to speak, you know. Uh, the ESPY's is the the best of the best of the sports world come together all combined. Oh, it's sports, man. Every sport, you know, uh, name of, you know, all the sports, gymnastics, baseball, basketball, everything, you know. Everybody getting, you know, acknowledged tonight, you know, for their great performances, not just in football but in their other sports. So I think it's great. For me, it's like I don't watch all sports but I get out here and see some of the things people do and some of the awards people win. So it's something new. It's it's an awards show that I actually get to feel like I'm a I'm a part of, you know. You get to um, get to have a name in, you know, where opposed to uh, the Grammy's and Oscar and all that stuff, you know. You go there, they just looking at you like, "Who this guy?"
If there was one sandwich at Subway that you can name after you. What would it be called and what would be on it?
Uh, one sandwich on the Subway? Oh my goodness. That's a good one. It gonna have wheat bread on it. You gotta have wheat bread.
I'll get wheat bread.
Oh, we gotta go wheat. Gotta go wheat. Whole grain. Get your fiber in.
Oh, is that sandwich toasted, daddy?
Toasted. Teriyaki chicken, cheese, lettuce. A little bit of uh, banana peppers. A little salt and pepper. And a nice little chips. And gotta have the cookies. Shredded, sharp cheddar. Spread it on top of it, you know what I'm saying? We call it winning, baby. Winning. And that's the name of the sandwich for George Wilson, winning.
We had Von Miller come through here. And I asked Von, I said, "Von, what sandwich at Subway would you make if it was named after you and what would be put on it?" So he gave me a list of everything. And I said, "What would the sandwich be called, Von?" Von told me, I'll call it a Roasted Charger. That's what I call it, baby.
Oh, man. I don't get the a Roasted.
I call it a Roasted Charger. You know, I I I I really want the swing on them right there, you know what I'm saying?
Okay, just tell Von we'll be ready, you know, when it's time to kick off, you know. Hopefully, uh, he'll probably do that dance probably in the locker room cause they gonna be on that Sunday. Yes, sir.
Von, that interview was just for you. And I love every minute of it. If you if you happen to win that award tonight, what would be the dance that you would do going across the stage?
Dance. I don't know. I hopefully hopefully I can walk across the stage. I'm so I'm gonna be so nervous when I get up there. I'll probably have to do the dougie. I'll have to do the dougie. That's my that's my dance. I like I like doing the dougie. Ah ah ah. Yeah. I'll probably have to do a backflip off of the stage, which will probably rip my jacket. So I'm gonna have to rethink that, but uh, Man, this what you ain't gonna get me like this again. You got me one time and play. You got me on that. Them boys laugh for me, but honestly, man, I I get I might do a letter slide on them. No, you know I might do I might do James Brown on them. Just Yeah. Oh, man. Hit 'em with the sweet foot. Roasted Charger.
