Hey guys, Young Hollywood coming to you from Switzerland. I am now on a mountaintop in Leysin about to take you behind the scenes of some incredible action going on on these very slopes. So we're here in Leysin with this beautiful venue here, so why don't we just go grab our skis and get to it?
Let's get to it.
Now, get to it means what exactly? I'm a beginner I would say. I can get down a mountain.
All right, so we're We're just going to start with the basics, maybe make a lap at first and then we're going to get into a few little beginner tricks if you would say.
Oh, okay. Now, getting into it as you say is that just kind of going slow down a mountain, is that just putting on your skis?
It's like progressing at a level that you feel comfortable with.
Okay, go easy on me. Haha. Okay. Okay, it is super bright out here. We got our shades on. So, freestyle skiing, that's your thing. That's what you do. Impossible to master. What's it feel like? Break down how you go from skiing to freestyle skiing and kind of the basics.
Um, well, so you basically have to know how to ski a decent difficulty before you get into in the halfpipe. Yeah. Um so, you kind of just lead up to harder and harder difficulty and then you maybe start jumping off little things and maybe like hopping up in the air. And like, I don't know, there's just kind of grew up in in Aspen. Yeah. Which is where the X-Games were held. So.
Right. Just kind of got right into it. Wow. Yeah. Get nervous?
Um, occasionally, yeah.
Wow. Okay. Well, I'm a little nervous cuz these hills are it got some uh steepness going. Like basics now. Ski. Let's do it. All right. Okay. So, this is called pizza I've learned.
Yes, this is a pizza. This is how you go slower. Okay. And then to stop, you can either do the pizza or you can also go to your side. Good start.
Good start? Yeah. Better than pizzaing the whole way down, right? Yeah. What am I doing wrong?
Well, everything. Um You're just kind of like, can you lean like this? Yeah, so when you turn, you want to have your like you want to only have these edges instead of catching your Cuz right now you're kind of catching this edge. So when you go for a turn you're just going to kind of slide.
slide. A little better. The goal is to not fall. Obviously when you're starting out. So when you want to go slow, going down a steep mountain like this, is it wise to just pizza the whole way down? Or?
Um, yeah, maybe pizza but like while you're pizzaing, also turn.
Right. So like Oh! I didn't fall. Not bad. Okay. Okay, I'm comfortable doing this. I'm sliding down. Here we go. Safest way down. Just slide. Wait, what do you got? What do you got?
I have a worm turn.
A worm turn? Yeah. She's calling it a worm turn. Okay, Leslie, I'm going to do a worm turn. You ready?
I'm ready. Let's see it. Come on. Yeah. That's a lot better. Not a worm turn, but you know. Okay, now on this, do you see this patch of snow?
Yes, ma'am. I want you to point it and jump. When you hit like the top and just jump. Why don't you go for I'll follow your lead. So I'm going to jump and do a 180.
You're going to jump and do a 180? Yeah. And land switch.
I'm going to do a jump and a zero. Okay. Yeah. I'm going to wait for this guy to go. It's okay. Woo-hoo! It's not a ski trip unless you fall, right? Yeah. Well, nice job. Dude, that was incredible. You fall, you get back up, right? That's the lesson in skiing, free skiing, in life. What an honor. Congrats on your bronze. Happy skiing. And we're going to watch you do your stuff up there. So kick butt.
Thank you.
Cool. Take care.
