WOMEN WE LOVE: Elizabeth Olsen

When we hear the last name Olsen, many of us tend to think about the famous pair of twins—Mary-Kate and Ashley. Nowadays when we hear the last name, we immediately think of their little sister Elizabeth. Inspired by watching her sisters act on television in shows like “Full House” and countless movies, the youngest Olsen took a page out of her sisters’ book, deciding to be in front of the camera.

 

From a young age, Olsen took ballet and singing lessons and appeared in her sisters’ films. She later went on to study acting at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and abroad in Moscow at the Moscow Art Theatre School. Her breakthrough role came in 2011, when she starred in the independent thriller Martha Marcy May Marlene, which received critical acclaim and earned her many award nominations. Her acting roles vary from portraying the wife, manager, and duet partner of country singer Hank Williams in the biopic I Saw the Light  to an FBI agent in the neo-Western murder mystery Wind River.

 

 

 

Her most well-known role to date is Wanda Maximoff (aka Scarlett Witch) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She made her first appearance as the beloved Avenger in an post-credits scene for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. later appearing in the final installment of the Captain America trilogy and the latter 3 Avengers films.

 

 

 

Starting today, January 15, Wanda stans get to see Olsen back in action in the new Disney+ series, “WandaVision”. The new MCU series is a drastic shift in genre and tone from other MCU projects in the past. “WandaVision” shows Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff and Vision (Paul Bettany) inside a television sitcom, paying homage to classics like “I Love Lucy” and “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”.

 

 

 

It’s no surprise that Wanda has become a fan favorite because Elizabeth Olsen nails it every time she appears on the screen. We can’t wait to see her in “WandaVision” on Disney+, now streaming!
