While BlacKkKlansman released in 2018, Driver was able to piggyback off that career-defining performance in the critically-acclaimed Spike Lee film with his first Oscar nomination to kick 2019 off strong. This accomplishment solidified that the actor was more than just a TV star or popcorn franchise villain. His role in BlacKkKlansman showcased his true strengths as a performer. He brilliantly portrayed a Jewish cop going undercover in the KKK, and the Academy, as well as the rest of Hollywood, saw what he is truly made of when it comes to the world of acting. His nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the 2019 Oscars was his first, but there is no chance that it will be his last.
