We Can’t Get Jake Miller’s Quaran-Tunes Out of Our Head!

Written by Andi Ortiz. Published: April 15 2020

Okay, I’m bored in the house, and I’m in the house bored. And here’s what I’ve learned: if you just sang those words to yourself, you’ve been on TikTok just as much as I have.

That little number was created by Curtis Roac, and has become the unofficially official anthem of the COVID-19 pandemic. If you haven’t heard it yet, well, brace yourself. You won’t be able to stop singing it after this.

(Warning: mature language!)

Now, when you find yourself unconsciously singing this three days from now, just remember, I warned you!

Don’t worry, though, there will most definitely be a few other earworms on replay for you too, because Jake Miller has essentially created an entire EP of them over on his TikTok. Beginning on March 22, Miller created “How Long Will This Last?” with his family.

From there, a tidal wave began. After “How Long Will This Last?” came the creation of Miller’s next quaran-tune, “Take A Walk”. This one is so catchy that it’s pulled in more than 5 million views.

Unfortunately, the answer to the question “How Long Will This Last?” is still unknown. Here we are a month later, still in our homes, with no clear end date in sight. It’s fine, though. We do what we need to do to keep each other safe. We need to look out for our fellow humans.

If boredom is our only complaint, then we’re doing pretty good. But… it is fairly boring.

The good news is, Miller is still going! We now have 9 quaran-tunes in total (so far), each one seeming to get catchier than the last.

My personal favorite is number eight, “Don’t Eat The Bat”:

Personally, I kind of hope “Don’t Eat The Bat” ends up in a weird Batman cartoon someday in the future. It could be rewritten to work, couldn’t it?

If there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that we’re all slowly losing our minds during this quarantine. But if Jake Miller and fam have proven anything, it’s that there are productive and creative ways to lean into the crazy a bit.

Stay home, stay safe, and find the music in you!
