'The Autopsy of Jane Doe' Promises to Put Some Scares into Your Holiday!
We seem to be in the midst of a Renaissance for original horror films these days, and I for one couldn’t be happier. Run-of-the-mill haunted house/ghost stories are a dime a dozen, so when something truly unique like The Autopsy of Jane Doe comes along, my interest is immediately piqued!
Equal parts ghost story and murder mystery, with a bit of medical procedure thrown in, The Autopsy of Jane Doe follows a father-and-son duo of coroners trying to figure out the cause of death of an unidentified woman. The more clues they uncover, the weirder things get, until some downright spooky stuff begins happening in and around the morgue!
This concept is so intriguing to me because the main antagonist (if indeed that’s what our Jane Doe is) seems largely passive throughout the story; it’s actually the actions of the protagonists and their desire to unravel the mystery that appears to set off the paranormal chain of events – which, I’m guessing, was 100% the intention of whomever was responsible for Jane Doe’s “death”. The coroners are essentially writing their own story here, and that is what makes this movie so interesting and different.
Also, this movie may very well contribute to a fear of bells epidemic!
Get your scare on when The Autopsy of Jane Doe hits theaters on December 23!
