Congratulations are in order to some of our favorite celebrities who use their platforms, voices, and talents to influence change in the world! Shailene Woodley ("Big Little Lies"), Storm Reid (A Wrinkle in Time), and “Riverdale” stars Camila Mendes and Madelaine Petsch are being honored at this year’s Empathy Rocks fundraiser organized by the Children Mending Hearts non-profit.

This is the 10th annual event for Empathy Rocks, and it is mostly females that are being honored, along with Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation. Children Mending Hearts is a non-profit founded by filmmaker couple Lysa Heslov and Grant Heslov. This organization’s mission is to inspire empathy in children of Los Angeles County by offering service learning programs and opportunities to schools and a variety of community centers.

Empathy Rocks is referred to as “A Day of Fun in the Sun and Giving Back.” What’s better than good weather and giving back to the community? Well, honoring those that have made changes through their generosity and philanthropy! Shailene Woodley is being given the Hero for Change Award for her work as an environmental and climate change activist. Shailene has helped improve communities through All It Takes, the non-profit organization she co-founded.

Break-out star Storm Reid is being honored with the Hero of the Future Award, which recognizes a young person and their qualities in being a positive role model for the youth. Meanwhile, Camila Mendes and Madelaine Petsch will be honored with the Cast of Heroes Award for their accomplishments in being positive role models for women.

The Born This Way Foundation will be awarded the Global Changemakers trophy for the work and change that the foundation is creating through positive communities which reflect the mission of Children Mending Hearts.

We are happy these celebrities are being honored for the work they do when they are not in front of the camera. They are role models who aspire to spread inclusive and positive messages with the work they do. Events like Empathy Rocks show us how different people of all paths in the industry can come together to raise money to empower the disadvantaged youth and provide them with necessary educational programs.

Empathy Rocks is set to happen in Bel Air on June 10! Information on tickets, musical performances, and celebrity guests will be announced soon.
