Power Pals: The Ultimate List of Our Favorite Celebrity Friendships!
The entertainment industry is known for its glitz, glamour, and celebrity friendships -- we all love to see our favorite stars hanging out and supporting each other. When two famous people form a bond, it often gives us a glimpse into their private lives and personalities. From the iconic duos of the past to the current besties, here are some of the most notable celebrity friendships that have kept us talking and admiring!
1. Courteney Cox & Jennifer
Aniston
The iconic NBC sitcom "Friends" first aired in 1994 and has
garnered a loyal fan base that persists to this day. It's not just
the show's witty humor and timeless plot that continues to attract
fans, but the unforgettable characters and their amazing chemistry
with each other. At first glance, it may seem that the actors who
played the 5 close friends on the show have always been as close
off-camera. One bond that has stood the test of time is Courteney
Cox and Jennifer Aniston.
Contrary to their characters Monica and Rachel, who were childhood friends, Cox and Aniston didn't meet until they started working together on "Friends". Despite not having a pre-existing friendship, their connection was instantaneous, and their bond has only grown stronger over time. Interestingly, it's worth noting that Courteney was initially offered the role of Rachel (as revealed by the show's creator Marta Kauffman in an interview with Rolling Stone: “We thought Courteney Cox might be Rachel. She’s the one who said, ‘No, I should be Monica.’”) Their friendship has been marked by several memorable moments, such as Courteney defending Jennifer after the "Brangelina" split, and Jennifer being Coco’s (Courteney child from her marriage with actor David Arquette) godmother. Additionally, in 2019, Courteney took to Instagram to share a heartwarming post welcoming Jennifer to the social media platform. More recently, Aniston supported Cox as she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In her speech, Jennifer revealed the depth of their friendship, saying: “To be friends with Courteney is to be family with Courteney… She’s responsible for all of that. From the beginning of 'Friends', she was immediately inclusive, warm, loving, interested in everything about you.”
2. George Clooney & Brad Pitt
George Clooney and Brad Pitt's friendship is not just limited to their on-screen chemistry. The 2 actors first met on the set of the film Ocean's Eleven in 2001 and have been close ever since. Their camaraderie has been well-documented in the media, and both actors have openly talked about their bond in numerous interviews. In September 2022, during a Vogueinterview, Pitt declared Clooney as the sexiest man: "Well, I've gotta name that George Clooney f---er, because why not?" he teased. "Usually I'm always taking him out and he's always taking me out, and this time I'm going to go the other way. Just this once. George? That one's for you." In response, Clooney jokingly referred to his friend's statement during an appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert", saying, "Well, I do have some things to say about him, and it will include the word f---er in it, apparently, since he used that about me… I would say that I, too, think that I am the most handsome man in the world."
Apart from Ocean's Eleven, the dynamic duo has collaborated in several films, including Ocean's Twelve, Burn After Reading,' and the upcoming Apple+ movie Wolves, which is currently in production. According to IMDb, the movie follows "two lone wolf fixers who are assigned to the same job." Clooney shared his excitement for working with Pitt again during an interview with People, stating, "He's a friend of mine, and we have a really good time together. I'm really looking forward to it." Given their successful performances together in the past, it is safe to say that their reunion on the big screen will be a surefire hit!
3. Millie Bobby Brown & Noah Schnapp
When "Stranger Things" hit Netflix in 2016, it introduced the world to a talented cast of young actors, including Millie Bobby Brown and Noah Schnapp. Brown, who plays the telekinetic Eleven, and Schnapp, who plays Will Byers, have formed a strong bond over the years both on and off screen.
The two have shared numerous photos and moments together, often captured during interviews and on Schnapp's YouTube channel. In fact, on Brown's 19th birthday last month, Schnapp referred to her as his "partner in crime" in an Instagram post. One iconic moment between the pair occurred on Halloween in 2018 when the "Stranger Things" cast hung out together, with Schnapp dressed up as none other than Eleven from the show's first season!

Their close friendship hasn't gone unnoticed by those around them, including Brown's fiancé, Jake Bongiovi. During an appearance on "The Drew Barrymore Show", Brown revealed that, when she and Bongiovi first met, he said, "You guys are in love. But it's in the most platonic way." Brown herself has praised their platonic relationship, saying, "We were always able to kind of connect with each other… and it's so platonic, which is so beautiful."
4. Selena Gomez & Taylor Swift
We love when a queen supports another queen, which perfectly describes Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift’s friendship! The two artists, who are both successful and popular young female musicians of their generation, met when they both dated Jonas Brothers (Selena dated Nick, while Taylor was dating Joe), and their friendship has only grown stronger since then. "It was amazing, because [Taylor] was the girl with the big curly hair and all the bracelets and the cowboy boots. And I was definitely up-and-coming, and we just clicked," Gomez told KISS FM UK in 2017 and later jokingly added, “It was the best thing we got out of those relationships.”
Their friendship has been well documented through social media, interviews, and surprise appearances, as Gomez starred in the video for Swift’s song “Bad Blood”, made a surprise appearance in The 1989 World Tour in order to perform “Good For You”, and again on 2019 during Taylor's Reputation Tour to perform her hit "Hands to Myself" together. Gomez recently defended Swift after a TikTok clip featuring Hailey Bieber seemingly gagging at her name was posted. Previously, Gomez described her friendship with Swift in an interview for Rolling Stone: “I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities. My only friend in the industry really is Taylor, so I remember feeling like I didn’t belong. I felt the presence of everyone around me living full lives.” Swift, on the other hand, posted a preview of Selena’s documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me on her Instagram story, following the premiere, and wrote, “So proud of you”.
5. Leonardo DiCaprio & Tobey Maguire
Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire have been close friends for over 3 decades, having first met in the late-1980s when they were both aspiring actors auditioning in Los Angeles. Interestingly, they had similar backgrounds, both raised by single mothers in the L.A. area and both pursuing acting careers from a young age. As the story goes, DiCaprio saw Maguire filming on the streets of Los Angeles while he was on his way home from school. DiCaprio recognized Maguire from auditions and asked his mother to stop the car. "I literally jumped out of the car," he recalled. "I was like, 'Tobey! Tobey! Hey! Hey!' And he was like, 'Oh, yeah — I know you. You're... that guy.' But I just made him my pal. When I want someone to be my friend, I just make them my friend."
The pair have shared three on-screen credits, beginning with the 1993 film adaptation of Tobias Wolff's memoir This Boy's Life. In that film, DiCaprio beat out Maguire for the lead role, but the two had a pact that if one got a lead role, he would help the other get cast in a supporting role, so Maguire ended up with a smaller part. Their second collaboration was in the low-budget black-and-white film Don's Plum, which remains banned in the United States and Canada. Their most recent collaboration, as of the time of writing, was in the 2013 Baz Luhrmann-directed film The Great Gatsby, with DiCaprio portraying the mysterious Jay Gatsby and Maguire playing the role of Nick Carraway, Gatsby's friend and the narrator of the story.
Despite occasionally competing for the same roles, the two are just like any other buddies. "There’s a lot of laughing and chatting between us... We enjoy doing a lot of things we have in common, like basketball. We like to play and talk about basketball," Maguire said in an interview with People. He also added that he has a lot of trust and respect for DiCaprio, and that "I definitely have an affection for Leo."
6. Zendaya & Hunter Schafer
In the hit HBO series "Euphoria", the on-screen relationship between Rue Bennett and Jules Vaughn may be complex, but the off-screen friendship between Zendaya and Hunter Schafer is a beautiful one. The two actresses have spoken openly about their strong bond in various interviews and frequently share pictures of each other on social media.
In a WMagazineinterview, Schafer reflected on the best part of playing Jules and how it allowed her to reconnect with parts of her own life: "It’s been therapeutic to readdress that part of my life, using Jules as a pathway, and building a beautifully complicated relationship with Rue, Zendaya’s character," she said. "We’ve formed a really special bond over the past eight months that I’m so thankful for."
Schafer also spoke about her experience working with Zendaya on set, describing the excitement of bouncing off each other during scenes. "When you're in a scene with somebody and you're bouncing off of each other, it's so exciting because it all starts to feel very real and it makes the acting part easier," she told MTV News. "I think Z was just so committed to doing it, holding space for me, and made it that much easier to reciprocate and make our world very visceral and immersive.”
The physical intimacy between Rue and Jules was a significant aspect of the show, and Schafer revealed in an interview with Cosmopolitan that she and Zendaya spent a lot of time preparing for those scenes: "We’d spend three hours just cuddling in bed together as our characters," she recalled. "There are a lot of scenes where Rue and Jules are just in bed talking and holding each other. Shooting that broke down a lot of the physical intimacy barriers.”
Zendaya has also spoken about her relationship with Schafer, emphasizing the importance of their friendship beyond their shared profession. "Knowing that she was so young and so much of this was new to her, my thing was being as much of a big sister as I could," she toldHarper's Bazaar. "What we do for a living is important, but the friendship we share is more important.”
