Lauv Opens Up About His Demons In New Single & Video “Modern Loneliness”
Another day, another Lauv song that I LOVE.
This morning, he released a new single and music video called “Modern Loneliness”, and according to his Twitter, it’s his "favorite song he’s ever made" and "most important" song of his career. So, you KNOW it’s magical and real as hell.
I’m trying to think back on a song that he’s released that I didn’t like and I can’t! This guy knows how to write incredibly mesmerizing songs, complete with simple yet relatable lyrics and an addicting beat.
The video is full of bright colors and shows him singing his lyrics while laying in a field of yellow flowers. As the video pans out, you see other people around him, and I think it’s supposed to match his lyric of “we’re never alone but always depressed.” Deep.
I love the mix of his dark lyrics and the colorful video. Symbolic.
Scroll down for the full lyrics, where he opens up about his father, his depression, and more.
Cheers to you, Lauv, for being an inspiration to others to be open about their demons.
Incredible, right?!
Look at how vulnerable his reactions are about the song! We love you Lauv.
not to mention i cry every time i sing it...OKAY bye for real lmaoooo

NEVER ALONE

BUT ALWAYS DEPRESSED
Full lyrics:
I’ve been thinking about my father lately, the person that he made me, the person I’ve become
And I’ve been trying to fill all of this empty, but fuck I’m still so empty
Yeah, I could use some love
And I’ve been trying to find a reason to get up
Been trying to find a reason for this stuff
In bedroom and my closet, the baggage in my heart is still so dark
Modern loneliness
We’re never alone but always depressed, yeah
Love my friends to death but I never call them, I never text them
La di da di da, yeah
You get what you give and you give what you get, so
Modern loneliness
We love to get high but we don’t know how to come down
If I could break my DNA to pieces, rid of all my demons
If I could cleanse my soul
Then I could fill the world with all my problems, but shit that wouldn’t solve them
So I’m left here alone
And I’ve been trying to find a reason to get up
Been trying to find a reason for this stuff
In bedroom and my closet, the baggage in my heart is still so dark
Modern loneliness
We’re never alone but always depressed, yeah
Love my friends to death but I never call them, I never text them
La di da di da, yeah
You get what you give and you give what you get, so
Modern loneliness
We love to get high but we don’t know how to come down, down, down, down, down, down
We don’t know how to come down, down, down, down, down, down
We don’t know how to come down, down, down, down, down, down
We don’t know how to come down, down, down, down, down, down
We don’t know how to come down
