J. Cole Continues To Tease His Upcoming 'Revenge of the Dreamers III' Album & We Need The Whole Thing ASAP!

J. Cole is infamous for teasing new music and making us fans wait for what feels like an eternity to hear the finish product. Remember that J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar collab that STILL hasn’t happened? Well, J. Cole is back at it again.

J. Cole is personally my favorite artist, hands down, so the wait for me is TERRIBLE. Recently, he and his record company, Dreamville, announced that they will be dropping an album soon. Cole said we could expect the album in April. Well, April came and went and the album still hasn’t been released. Come on, Cole, this isn’t fair!

All the hype began on January 6 when J. Cole uploaded a picture to Twitter of a gold poster invitation. The invitation read, “Your presence and participation is requested for the recording sessions of the upcoming compilation album Revenge of The Dreamers III.” RETWEET. How exciting! New music by J. Cole and Dreamville artists?! I literally could not wait. I guess I still can’t wait, because they’ve yet to release the entire album.

So, why all the hype for this album? I mean, it’s J. Cole’s record company... need I say more? Another reason for all the hype is that the artists on the album all recorded together in the studio rather than just sending in their verses. It was said that over 100 artists and producers were invited to the recording sessions, which lasted a duration of 10 days back in January. Some of these artists/producers included T.I., Rick Ross, Tay Keith, DJ Khaled, Ski Mask, Wale, T-Minus, Ludacris, and more. On January 16, J. Cole tweeted that the sessions were done. Where is the music at then?!

To tease the album even more, artists started posting photos and snippets of their recording sessions.

Ski Mask even posted a video on Instagram previewing the song he is in. The room was definitely lit. I could practically feel the energy from my iPhone screen. The vibes were positive, the energy was lit, and the bars were fire. The short snippet already had my head bobbing.

Even though the album has yet to come out, 2 songs were just released from the album on June 12. If this is a good example of how the album is going to be, then I am READY.

The first song released titled, “Down Bad”, has J. Cole, J.I.D, Bas, EarthGang, and Young Nudy. The song is about difficult times in the rappers' lives and how they pursued rapping to escape the adversity. The beat starts strong and definitely gets you going right away. All the rappers on this song body their verses and keep you connected the entire time. With a catchy chorus, awesome lyrics, and a dope beat, the song is a head-banger.

The other song that was released, “Got Me”, has Ari Lennox, Ty Dolla $ign, Dreezy, and Omen. If you haven’t listened to Ari Lennox, you need to. The girl has got some vocals! The combination of her vocals and Ty Dolla $ign’s is a whole VIBE. I played the song and immediately knew I was feeling it. The song is a mix of R&B and rap with a lowkey beat, soft vocals, and dope rhymes by rappers Dreezy and Omen. The song makes me want to cruise down Pico with the windows down and just chill.

Now that we’ve heard two songs from the Revenge of the Dreamers III album, we need more. I’m still looking for my Summer anthem. Come on, J. Cole, you’re killing us.
