Since debuting on Amazon Prime Video, "Invincible" hooked viewers and didn't let go. The series tells the story of Mark Grayson, a 17-year-old high school student who is everything but average. That’s because his father, Nolan, is Omni-Man, the country’s biggest superhero. Mark wants to be just like his dad, and he gets his wish when his powers finally come in. But being a hero is more complicated than Mark anticipated, and his dad is not who he seems to be.

The most important thing for you to know about this show is that it’s an adult animated television show. It’s not for the faint of heart, and it doesn’t pull any punches either. "Invincible" also tackles serious themes like family relationships, learning how to manage responsibility, and living up to the standards set by parents. Deep stuff. It’s no wonder this show resonants with so many people.

Speaking of people, the voice acting in "Invincible" is incredible! Oscar nominee Steven Yeun, Oscar winner J. K. Simmons, and Golden Globe winner Sandra Oh play the main characters Mark, Nolan, and Debbie (Mark’s mom and Nolan’s wife), respectively. Yeun in particular is extremely charming as Mark and does an incredible job leading the cast.

The show also features the talents of Zazie Beetz, Gillian Jacobs, Seth Rogen, two-time Oscar winner Mahershala AliEzra Miller, Mark Hamill, and Zachary Quinto, just to name a few.

The animation is a lot of fun to watch. There seems to be an unwritten rule that mature animated shows shouldn’t be beautiful, but that isn’t the case here. The fight scenes are well crafted and choreographed in an exciting way. You can’t help but be glued to the screen while watching. The season finale has some of the best fight scenes in the entire show.

Above all, the story itself is what will keep you watching. The show is adapted from the 2003 comic, and while "Invincible" is different from the source material, it’s perfect for both newcomers and old fans. Most importantly, what "Invicinble" does best is give us another look at the superhero genre. With DC and Marvel’s cinematic universe dominating the superhero genre, it’s easy to forget that there are other superhero stories we have yet to explore on television.
