ICYMI: Trailer For The Next James Bond Flick 'No Time To Die' Drops & We Are Both Shaken AND Stirred!

Written by Katie Marzullo. Published: December 07 2019

Daniel Craig is hanging up his martini glass and going out with a literal bang!

The first trailer for the 25th and latest James Bond flick, No Time To Die, dropped this week, and it looks like Bond version of the “one last mission” trope of action films. But, you know, way cooler!

In this outing, directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, Bond is ready for that sweet retirement life but NOT SO FAST because the CIA needs his particular set of skills to help find a missing scientist. For this mission, he is paired up with the MI6 agent who took his place as 007, Nomi (Lashana Lynch), so basically this is also a buddy-cop movie. But, you know, way cooler!

As you can see in the trailer, the movie also reintroduces some familiar faces from the previous Bond film, Spectre, including Lea Seydoux as Bond’s love interest Dr. Madeleine Swann, and Christoph Waltz as the dastardly Blofeld, now safely in custody. The main big bad of this movie, though, is Oscar-winner Rami Malek as Safin, who seems to have a significant skin condition, which he hides under a mask that makes him look like the Phantom of the Opera. But, you know, way cooler!

Other returning characters include Ben Whishaw as Q, Ralph Fiennes as M, and Naomie Harris as Moneypenny.

This will be the first new Bond picture since 2015 and slated to be Daniel Craig’s fifth and final. The movie currently has 5 credited writers, one of which is Emmy-winning writer/director/actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, whom Craig personally recommended be brought on board to add more humor to the script (and to add a bit of a feminist touch to a historically chauvinistic character).

Earlier this summer, it was announced that Lashana Lynch would be the new 007, and everyone assumed that meant she was the “new James Bond”, but apparently that was a bit misleading. Yes, she is the new 007, taking over that secret agent moniker after Bond retired following the events of Spectre, but she is not, in fact, the “new James Bond” – just his replacement at MI6. There is only ONE James Bond, after all… and they will need to cast someone to replace Daniel Craig, if indeed they want to continue the Bond franchise. Let the speculation re-commence!

No Time To Die hits theatres on April 8, 2020!
