ICYMI: Pennywise Offers The Losers Club a Second Chance to Float in 'It' Sequel!

Nowadays, it's hard to find horror films that actually scare you. I mean, it's easy to find one that is full of gore and jump scares, but to really bring about genuine fear is something not many filmmakers of the genre know how to do. But, of course, there are some exceptions. While some Stephen King adaptations are bound for the five dollar bin, some are indeed the stuff of legends in the scaring-the-crap-out-of-people department. One of these is Andy Muschietti’s 2017 adaptation of It. The film ended up becoming the highest-grossing horror film to date and was quite a terrifying experience. So, with much of King’s story still left to be told, the demand for a sequel as well as it outdoing its predecessor was at an all-time high. And now, after much anticipation, the first trailer has arrived for the second chapter in Pennywise’s horrifying tale.

If you thought the first one was scary, this terrifying tease promises that audiences are in for one eerily epic rematch. From what is shown in the preview, It: Chapter Two looks like this It will not disappoint. In the sequel, 27 years have passed since the Losers Club took on Pennywise in that fateful 1989 summer in Derry, Maine. After beating the monster down and sending him presumably back to where he came from, everyone knew there was a chance he’d return. Now honoring the pact they all made to stop the influx of red balloons and the constant murdering of children, they’ll return as grown-ups to hopefully finish the job once and for all. But unbeknownst to this ragtag group of unlikely heroes, It has become stronger than ever, meaning just because they are adults this time won’t make things any easier.

This trailer is fantastic for so many reasons, and it has a very Avengers: Endgame vibe to it. This makes a lot of sense because, even though Thanos killed trillions, I’m still more scared of Pennywise than the Mad Titan. I mean, it would be great to see Earth’s Mightiest Heroes take on the inter-dimensional monster from the macro-verse, but I’ll absolutely settle for this amazing cast of adult versions of our favorite losers. James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Jay Ryan, Isaiah Mustafa, James Ransone, and Andy Bean are playing the older group of misfits who will reunite to take down the clown once and for all. Jaeden Martell, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Wyatt Oleff have also returned to help finish the narrative in flashbacks, which the book is known to do a lot throughout the story. And, of course, the ever horrifying Bill Skarsgard returns to make all our nightmares come to turn as Pennywise. It seems like all the necessary pieces for one of the year's scariest films to float all the way to the top of everyone favorites list once It is finally released.

It: Chapter Two opens on September 6, 2019.
