ICYMI: Loki's Disney+ Series First Look Sees the Marvel Villain Creating Chaos in the 1970s!

There are so many great reasons for fans to get excited about Disney's new streaming service that makes its debut this November. Besides having the majority of the Mouse's classics at one's fingertips, the new original content that has been teased has really been the big selling point for me. "The Mandalorian" looks like it will be a "Game Of Thrones"-esque contender, and the "ScarletVision" story seems very intriguing to say the least. But what is really convincing me to add this app to my devices is the fact that Asgard's most notorious trickster is finally getting his own series.

For years, the MCU was missing a Loki solo film which never came to be, leaving Tom Hiddleston fans across the globe with an unparalleled feeling of disappointment. But now, thanks to the streaming wars, Marvel is going big on Disney's platform, and the "Loki" series is one that fans will not want to miss. And now, after months of speculation, the first look at what will presumably end up being one of the greatest Disney+ shows ever to exist has arrived.

Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige is the man who is in focus, but if you can see past this titan of the comic book movie industry, behind him lies a glimpse of what promises to be an epic binge session. The logo for the Loki series sits above an image of Hiddleston back in action sometime in what is presumed to be the 1970s. The time period guess is a result of several things witnessed by eagle-eyed individuals. These revealing observations include fashion and cars, but especially the marquee -- Stephen Spielberg's 1975 classic Jaws is playing in theaters. So, there is a good chance the God of Mischief has found his way to the Disco Era. From what we have seen throughout his humorously treacherous tenure in the MCU, this character is capable of anything and should never be underestimated.

There are a lot of places the "Loki" show could go, given the impact of the Quantum Realm. The character met his actual demise in Avengers: Infinity War, but during some time traveling shenanigans in Avengers:Endgame, Loki was able to escape custody with the Time Stone moments after the events of the first Avengers movie. We know the show will follow the infamous trickster and shapeshifter as he appears throughout history as an unlikely influencer on historical events. This idea of pulling a reverse “Quantum Leap”, disguising himself to reap the benefits, is very similar to what he did when he pretended to be Odin in the last two Thor movies, so this is right up his alley. This premise opens the door for many excellent adventures as well as provide more chances for Hiddleston to indeed have a blast playing the role he has become so synonymous with since the early days of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While we don't know anything specific about the plot, we do know one name putting it all together. Michael Waldron, a writer who worked on the upcoming season of "Rick and Morty", will write the pilot and act as showrunner. The popular Adult Swim series regularly involves portals to other dimensions, time travel, shapeshifting, and pretty much anything the science-fiction genre has conjured up over the years. "Loki"'s story seems like it will be the perfect blend of fantasy, sci-fi, and history, making it an ideal match for someone who worked on a series like "Rick and Morty". So, basically, between the first look, the guy writing the show, and the fact that Hiddleston is and probably will be the best version of this character, means that everyone needs to be ready for the day that Loki finally makes his triumphant return.
