First Trailer for "GLOW" Season 3 Goes Viva Las Vegas!

Written by Katie Marzullo. Published: June 17 2019

It feels like it’s been a year since we’ve heard from our “GLOW” girls, but that’s only because it has been.

Last summer saw the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling in Netflix’s fictionalized version of the real-life ‘80s women’s wrestling show perfect their act and film their first cable access episodes in L.A. As Season 2 wrapped up, the girls were offered the chance to bring their show to Las Vegas, and that is where the story picks up for Season 3, premiering on August 9.

The first trailer for Season 3 just dropped today to give us our first glimpse of GLOW going Vegas! The ladies are living that high-roller life, though of course their live show isn’t exactly going off without a hitch. Things seem to be getting more complicated between the show’s ever-optimistic lead, Ruth (Alison Brie), and the show’s curmudgeonly director, Sam (Marc Maron), following their almost-kiss last season... which might put a cramp in Ruth's blooming relationship with cameraman Russel. We also get our first look at the newest castmember, Oscar-winner Geena Davis, who joins the show as a Vegas entertainment director named Sandy Devereaux St. Clair -- no doubt she will be shaking things up. New production stills were released along with the trailer, a couple of which show the live-show heroine Debbie, AKA Liberty Belle, dressed up as Ruth’s villain character Zoya, and Ruth dressed as Liberty Belle… I’ll be interested in finding out what THAT is all about! And then about halfway through the trailer, they go and hit me with Roxette’s “Listen To Your Heart”, and my 10-year-old self is having a fit, y’all…

“GLOW” is loosely based on the true story of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling from the 1980s, who also had a successful TV show which was filmed in Las Vegas. Although it’s not a beat-for-beat recreation, many of the characters and personas are familiar to anyone who was a fan of the original show, like me.  See if anyone looks “familiar” below:

Bottom L-R: MTV, Cheyenne, Vicky Victory
(and no, I didn’t have to look up any of those names)

“GLOW” Season 3 premieres on August 9, so plenty of time to catch up on Seasons 1 & 2 before then!
