The sweet melody of Guns N’ Roses’ "Sweet Child O’ Mine" gently reaches our ears as a young Thor runs through the forest, time passing by as we watch him grow into the current God of Thunder we know and love. However, the post-Endgame Thor is ready for a new adventure. “My superhero-ing days are over,” he utters in his trademark accented rumble. “These hands were once used for battle, now they’re but humble tools for peace.”

After a MUCH highly-anticipated wait, the trailer for Taika Waititi's Thor: Love and Thunder has finally been released. This will be the 4th installment in the Thor film series, following the 2017 Thor: Ragnarok. Thor’s last appearance was in the box-office breaking Avengers: Endgame, and the God of Thunder is ready for newer, less… god-like journeys.

Specifically, Thor is ready for some inner peace. “I need to figure out exactly who I am,” Thor admits after burying Stormbreaker, his enchanted axe that hones the god’s strength into concentrated power. So, to the electric '80s anthem, Thor sets out on a journey of self-actualization, complete with an iconic workout fit that includes a “Strongest Avenger” hat and a leather vest/muscle tee combination.

This free-wheeling adventure is cut short at the hands of Gorr the God Butcher, who’s set on exterminating the gods, and Thor reluctantly finds himself banding with the familiar Guardians of the Galaxy crew to save Olympus. Marvel begins to depart from the original Nordic mythology Thor was borne from, introducing the Greek god of lighting, Zeus, and even showing us Olympus, the Greek court of the gods.

Peter Quill is… well, the ever sardonic Peter Quill, and it’s honestly refreshing to see such beloved faces cut through the aimlessness of Thor’s current venture. Valkyrie also makes a quick, eye-popping appearance in a dapper suit and tie, communicating the difference between her current political role as King of New Asgard and her intrepid warrior spirit.

Perhaps the most exciting and shocking moment of the trailer comes at the very end, when Jane Foster wields the mighty Mjølnir and makes her long-awaited entrance as Mighty Thor. While it’s only mere seconds of the trailer, fans can’t take their mind off the endless possibilities Jane’s return holds – will Thor finally be granted that peace he’s seeking all along?
