3. "Murder House" (Season 1)

This ranks as number one for a lot of people; I mean, it’s the one that started the whole thing, but it still isn’t my favorite. The inaugural season centers on a family who moves into a new home inhabited by ghosts and their stories, and the great lengths these spirits go to to protect their space. It is your typical scary house story, but it is filled with phenomenal performances, especially from Jessica Lange. This season makes you question what is right and wrong, and I always think that is the best part of storytelling.
