Disney+ Hoping To Put a Spell On You With 'Hocus Pocus' Sequel!
Better late than never. After talks spanning the past few years, the ‘90s Halloween-themed film Hocus Pocus is getting a modern-day reboot!
The original film, released in 1993, starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as a trio of Salem witches who return 300 years later when a group of teens (Omri Katz, Thora Birch, and Vinessa Shaw) unwittingly raise them from the dead. Throughout the years, Hocus Pocus has accumulated a large fanbase through frequent reruns on major networks such as Disney Channel and Freeform, specifically around Halloween.
Man, ‘90s Halloween films certainly look vintage, don’t they?
The kids are tasked with saving their town of Salem from this trio of havoc wreaking witches. If not, the sisters will be alive FOREVER. A scary proposition that is, and the trio of kids decide to go head to head with the evil sisters using their own wizardry tool -- the witches’ spellbook.
Now, 26 years later, the sequel for this Halloween classic has been confirmed and is slated to air on new streaming giant Disney+ at an unspecified date.
Unfortunately, there has been no direct confirmation of what the sequel would actually be about, or if any of the original cast members will reprise their roles, though fans can only hope!
According to reports, Jen D’Angelo, a writer/co-producer for the Comedy Central series "Workaholics", will be tasked with composing the script.
Stay tuned for more updates on Hocus Pocus 2!
