The feeling of realizing you have free will is indescribable. It's a feeling like no other. It’s almost like you don’t know where to start, you just know that all things are possible and achievable. There are many ways to be impactful, and they are limitless. Juneteenth is a holiday that celebrates all of that energy -- a celebration of Black Excellence, culture, freedom, justice, liberation, and resilience. Juneteenth is more than a day of reflection about history and past traumas. Juneteenth has become a day filled with elite vibes. Cookouts, festivals, parades, art displays, boutiques, and concerts are just a few of the ways Juneteenth is honored. This year, we are honoring Juneteenth by highlighting Black-owned brands to shop with. These brands have demonstrated Black Excellence and a continuous effort to stand out amongst the crowd. So get ready to add to your cart because we’ve got some thriving Black-owned brands that you will want to support!

1. Topicals

Leading at the “top” of the Black-owned skincare industry is Topicals. No pun intended. But seriously, though, Topicals, founded by Olamide Olowe, is breaking barriers and redefining skincare. With products that are 100% backed by science, their ingredients are gentle on all skin types and free from dyes and animal testing. Topicals focuses on the many different skin conditions, including hyperpigmentation, discoloration, acne, eczema, ingrown hairs, and dry skin. But, not only does Topicals have great products that are excellent for all skin types, they also have a mission and give back. Topicals believes in mental health advocacy and understands that people with chronic skin conditions are likely to experience mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. Therefore, Topicals donates a percentage of its profits to mental health movements to help raise awareness surrounding skin and mental health. Let’s hear it for Black-founded and Black-owned brand Topicals, creating a positive, empowering, and inclusive skin care line for all!

2. Cécred

If you enjoy Beyoncé’s work, you may have heard of Cécred, her newly launched haircare line. But if you haven’t, this one is for you. Cécred is a haircare line for all hair types. No matter how you show up, Cécred’s patent-pending science will keep your hair healthy. Cécred stands out from other haircare lines due to its clinically-tested bioactive keratin ferment process. Human hair is made up of 95% keratin protein, but everyday wear and tear can deplete these proteins. However, thanks to Cécred’s bioactive ferment process, repairing those depleted proteins is possible. Cécred has products ranging from shampoo, conditioner, treatment masks, lotion, edge drops, and much more. Their products have earned Allure’s Best of Beauty Award in 2024. They have received recognition globally, and people love their products. This Black-owned brand is nourishing hair and doing it the right way. Beyoncé is embracing the many forms of hair and letting us know that our hair deserves the best treatment.

3. Me & The Bees Lemonade

Who doesn’t love a cool, refreshing drink? Better yet, an all-natural lemonade with no high-fructose corn syrup, no artificial flavors, preservatives, or GMOS. That sounds delicious, doesn’t it? Black-owned brand Me & The Bees Lemonade provides exactly that. Founder and CEO Mikaila Ulmer started selling lemonade at only 4 years old in her front yard and turned a homegrown idea into a successful company with products in each of the 50 states. Me & The Bees Lemonade has a blend of ingredients that includes real fruit, flaxseed, and sweetened honey. Me & The Bees Lemonade takes pride in creating lemonade that is delicious and saves the bees as well as the planet. Their cans are recyclable, and a percentage of their profit goes to saving the bees. Over the past 15 years, the brand has created many flavors and variations of its lemonades while keeping the same mission of saving the bees and the planet. At 20 years old, owner Mikaila is still thriving with her company. She has spoken globally at many events detailing how she loves being a social entrepreneur and has even written a best-selling book titled Bee Fearless: Dream Like A Kid. She hopes to inspire people within this generation and the next to make a change.

6. Partake Foods

This list wouldn’t be complete without a Black-owned food line. Partake Foods is worth it! So good down to the very last crumb. Partake Foods makes inclusive foods that are allergy-friendly and suitable for those with food restrictions. If you’re looking to eat confidently without having to worry about the aftereffects, Partake Foods is your go-to. All of their products are free of peanuts, eggs, dairy, soy, tree nuts, shellfish, GMOS, sesame, and artificial preservatives. They are also gluten-free and enjoyable without stressing later about the ingredients. Their products include chocolate chip, lemon, birthday cake, ginger snap, and snickerdoodle cookies. They also have mini cookies that come in a 10-pack, vanilla wafers, classic grahams, and snack packs. Partake Foods understands that Black children are more likely to be diagnosed with food allergies. That’s why they have partnered with organizations like No Kid Hungry to provide access to food, education, and advocacy that families deserve. Owner Denise has also founded Black Futures In Food & Beverage, which is a fellowship program that mentors and guides HBCU students towards internships and jobs. Partake Foods has been recognized by well-known figures, including Jay-Z and Ayesha Curry.
