5 Television Shows That Broke Barriers and Took Risks Like “The OA”!

David Lynch is a name basically synonymous with the strange and unique. The show that really made Lynch a known and respected filmmaker and got him a huge following is “Twin Peaks”. Originally, it aired for 2 seasons, from 1990-1991, and ever since, it has been viewed as one of the best yet weirdest shows to be on television.

When Showtime brought it back for a 3rd season in 2017 (entitled “Twin Peaks: The Return”), the show solidified its place in television history for its ambitious vision and not being scared of taking risks that challenge the audience. The initial run of the show was about an FBI agent (Kyle MacLachlan) investigating a strange murder case in an even stranger town called Twin Peaks, and “Twin Peaks: The Return” takes place 25 years later.

While so many other shows are being rebooted just for the sake of it, there was still more to the story of the town of Twin Peaks. Lynch brought back plenty of the original peculiar characters, while also adding in a few great new ones. The resulting show is inventive and honest, and proves that Lynch still has a true talent for creating strange and beautiful stories.
