1. HBO Dominates the Competition... Again

Netflix or HBO? Netflix… or HBO? The perpetual debate of who dominates the small-screen sector of the entertainment industry may finally be over. The talent at HBO have wowed the industry this year, netting a staggering 137 nominations to Netflix’s 117. But it doesn’t just stop there. HBO didn’t just obliterate the competition, it also beat out its own previous record of 126 nominations in 2015.

HBO has come out on top a countless number of times, so why is this a big deal? Well, this win over Netflix is so extra sweet for HBO because Netflix briefly stole their title last year, when they received 112 nominations and HBO only received 108. This was the first time any network had beaten HBO in almost 20 years! It will be interesting to see how the rivalry unfolds in the future…
