5 Moments In Selena Gomez’s New Video “Rare” That Make Us Speechless!

Happy Selena Gomez Day! Her latest album Rare is out and she surprised us with a music video for the song only 12 hours later!

We’ve seen her go through so many highs and lows, and her album absolutely reflects her journey. Selena told MTV in a recent interview, “The video is very ethereal and captures the journey through three different states of mind. The moths symbolize determination and attraction. The forest represents the path to freedom and the bathroom self-reflection. At the end of the day, allowing yourself to be vulnerable and self-reflective can lead to this incredible freedom."

Here are the top 5 moments that made us fricken speechless:

1. The butterfly on her face!

Butterflies are so symbolic for transformation. Think about what a caterpillar has to go through to get the gorgeous wings and power to fly. Selena has gone through so much and we’ve seen her come out stronger in the process. It landing on her face makes me emotional because it’s like she’s connecting to the higher powers.

2. All of the iridescent rainbow colors

I feel like these colors are an ode to her seeing the light and feeling color in her life again after a dark period. You see her dance and play with the colors and bubbles, as if she’s finally feeling like her happy self again.

3. The fantasy world and forest

Maybe it’s because I’m an Earth sign (Hi fellow Virgos, Capricorns, and/or Tauruses) but I’m SO in awe with this shot. All of the gorgeous flowers sprouting from the ground and the beautiful tree limbs across the screen make me seriously wish this was a scratch and sniff video.

4. Her fairy gowns!!!

Selena is a FAIRY goddess in this video and I can’t get enough. The dresses are so ethereal and natural, where can I get one?! She’s stunning no matter what she wears, but these gowns are romantic af. I feel like she’s falling in love with herself again...

5. Her morphing into Glittery Gomez

As she sings her "oohs" and "ahhs" at the end of the song, these magical shots come in. Cue the speechlessness. She’s ready to be vulnerable and free, and her truest self! Glittery Gomez, that’s her new nickname. Let’s get it trending, folks!
