5 Feel-Good Songs To Celebrate Being Single This Valentine's Day!

Written by Courtney Allen. Published: February 13 2020

Valentine’s Day is on Friday, but we’re spending the most romantic day of the year celebrating a different type of love: self-love. Which honestly is our favorite kind!

This day can be rough if you’re stuck on the couch wishing you had a special someone in your life, but we think it’s the perfect time to be that person for you!

So grab the brightest roses, the richest chocolate, and the biggest teddy bear you can find in the overwhelmingly red aisles of the grocery store right now and love on yourself today like no other!

To help you, we’re sharing 5 songs that make us feel completely okay with spending this V Day solo!

1. "Binz" by Solange

“I just wanna wake up to the sun, and Saint Laurent.” Us too, Solange… us too.

But for now, start your day off with “Binz” and we guarantee you’ll feel empowered. This song is a vibe that screams “I can do bad all by myself” but in the best way possible.

And if the very personal music video doesn’t get you in the “I love me” mood, we just don’t know what else will.

2. "Cut You Off" by Selena Gomez

For all my peeps who stayed around way too long for someone in their past, this one is for you!

We love the attitude Selena Gomez possess in this track, all about moving on and coming to your full senses and discovering “all the possibilities I’ve got from head to toe” once you finally decide that you deserve more.

Sometimes the best way to love yourself is to #cutyouoff.

3. "The Spot" by Your Smith

Everyone needs a happy place to go when they’re feeling down on love.

Some choose a best friend’s couch, some choose a scenic hike, but we choose blasting this song on the highway.

Your Smith gets it… literally. “Gotta get you off my mind / So I’m driving up the 5 to stay alive till Jefferson,” and we’re right there with her. Or I guess she’s right there with us through the speakers...

4. "Get Well Soon" by Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande has been through her fair share of love storms but has proven she is the queen of healing. And thanks to her songs like “Get Well Soon”, so are we!

She sends us a loving reminder, “Babe, you gotta take care of your body / Ain’t no time to deny it,” no matter what disappointment or confusion comes your way. And, even more importantly, you are not alone in any of it.

5. "Love Myself" by Olivia O’Brien

There’s no better message we want to get across this Valentine’s Day than this one: Love yourself!

Sometimes we find it way easier than we should to pick ourselves apart for the love we feel we’re lacking. “Love Myself” is all about building self-love first, and letting the rest follow.

Make sure to keep these five songs on repeat all day for optimum self-love! We certainly will!
