5 BookTubers Who Can Help You Decide What To Read Next!

Written by María Calvo. Published: February 11 2020

Look, I’ve always loved reading. But deciding what to read next is an ongoing struggle for me – there are just too many options!

Luckily, some months ago, I ran into my solution: BookTube. Listening to reviews instead of reading them has given me the chance to discover fantastic authors while having a good time. Turns out, sometimes hearing a recommendation of another reader is all I need to give a book a try!

For those of you unfamiliar with the “BookTuber” community, let me give you a quick explanation: they are YouTube creators who focus on reviews and recommendations for books. However, their hot takes and jokes make their content very fun to watch!

So, if you’re looking for your next novel, let’s take a look at some of my personal favorites!

1. A Clockwork Reader

Hannah has one of those voices that just relax you; her calming tone and casual reviews really put you in the mood for a cozy day of reading. She also does occasional vlogs and book hauls, so it’s impossible to not pick up some interesting titles for future reads!

I also feel the need to add a sidenote: she has the most incredible bookshelf ever! Her books are organised according to their authors or themes – and she even has Funko Pops of her favorite characters!

With her fairy lights giving it a magical vibe, her bookshelf is the definition of goals. For us bookworms, that’s the dream!

2. Hailey in Bookland

I only discovered Hailey’s channel a few weeks ago, but she has already become one of my most trusted booktubers!

Her energetic and charismatic videos have a special place in my heart, as I’ve found a lot of good novels thanks to them! I mean, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and Fangirl were books I thought weren’t worth checking out – and now I might be too emotionally involved with them.

I especially love Hailey’s lists of books; they make you feel excited about characters that you’d never heard before in a sec. Her channel was a revelation for me, so I hope you give it a try!

You can watch below one of the first videos that I found by her: “The Best Young Adult Romance Reads!”

3. Elliot Brooks

Another cool booktuber is Elliot Brooks!

She talks about different genres (although Fantasy seems to be her personal preference), which gives you the opportunity to get out of your comfort zone and enjoy other mind-blowing books. Her channel is very spoiler-free as well, and she does a great job generating interest without giving away much information.

I love to see people speak passionately about the stuff they like, and you can tell how much she adores reviewing books just by listening to her! Also, she is a huge fan of The Witcher, and her videos about it are just awesome.

You should definitely check her out if you are looking for reading ideas!

4. ReadwithCindy

Okay, Cindy might the funniest and sassiest BookTuber in this list.

Her reviews are a lot of fun, and her jokes and rants have become very popular within this side of YouTube. What can you find in her channel? Everything! From tips on how to save money on books to relatable opinions about popular YA sagas.

But YouTube isn’t everything – Cindy is also part of the Bookstagram community! You can check out her beautiful pictures in her account @readwithcindy!

5. PeruseProject

And to finish this list, we couldn’t forget Regan!

I literally love her taste in stories but also how she keeps her reviews very casual and lively. Her recommendations aren’t usually too long while being very attractive and enjoyable, and for me that’s one of the main appeals of her channel!

You can also follow her in GoodReads to fully see what books she has liked – and for the moment, I have discovered a few authors (like Holly Black and Kevin Kwan) worth checking out thanks to her!

I hope you liked all the BookTubers and found some interesting channels to subscribe to! I know I forgot a lot of cool ones, but my list would have been endless if I’d added every amazing channel that I follow.

But hey, now it’s your turn to explore YouTube and discover them!
