4 Teen Movies to Watch on Netflix This Summer!

Written by Rishi Patel. Published: July 13 2020

We have officially entered the dog days of Summer 2020! Unfortunately, with a pandemic going on, many summer activities have had to be canceled. However, streaming services like Netflix and Hulu have been providing plenty of new and old content as a means of pastime and enjoyment.

There are plenty of flicks available on both, but Netflix does have some newer teen movies either already on the service or still upcoming! If you don’t know where to look on your Netflix or are simply looking for some streaming suggestions, here are some interesting teen movies to consider:

1. The Kissing Booth 2 (2020)

Joey King will return as Elle Evans in the sequel to the popular 2018 Netflix film, The Kissing Booth. The sequel is yet to release, but it’s coming out very soon -- Friday, July 24!

The premise of the second film will revolve around Elle going through senior year of high school as her love interest Noah (Jacob Elordi) embarks for college. Along with distance now playing a factor with her and Noah, Elle will still have to go through preparations for college and any other things that senior year will bring. Luckily, she has her close friend Lee (Joel Courtney) to get through it! Stay tuned for the release of The Kissing Booth 2!

2. The Half of It (2020)

Ellie Chu (Leah Lewis) is an introverted high schooler living in a small town. She makes some extra pocket change off writing papers and reluctantly accepts to write a love letter to Aster Flores (Alexxis Lemire) on behalf of football player Paul Munsky (Daniel Diemer), who does not know how to go about it.

Subsequently, Paul and Ellie develop a close friendship and bond as they work together to help Paul charm Aster through words. However, Ellie also has a crush on Aster, so that’s only the half of it! This film just released in May.

3. The Last Summer (2019)

Life after high school is full of decisions and sometimes uncertainty. For a few graduated seniors, that means figuring out college plans all while enjoying the last summer before going off in separate directions.

The film depicts several different stories, all focusing on various graduates dealing with different things before the summer ends. This includes rekindled friendships, relationships, and college decisions. Watch the stories of old friends Griffin (KJ Apa) and Phoebe (Maia Mitchell), recently split couple Erin (Halston Sage) and Alec (Jacob Latimore), buddies Chad (Jacob McCarthy) and Reece (Mario Revolori), Foster (Wolfgang Novogratz), and Audrey (Sosie Bacon) as they try to live it up during this last summer before college!

4. Summer Night (2019)

In this flick, close pals Seth (Ian Nelson) and Jameson (Ellar Coltrane) must deal with major decisions regarding their romantic lives prior to a huge summer event. This includes one of them needing to decide who they really want to be with.

Summer Night features a well-known cast that includes Victoria Justice, Lana Condor, Analeigh Tipton, Callan McAuliffe, and Hayden Szeto. This film may be worth watching on a summer night!
