Zoe Kravitz drank clay to lose weight for movie role
Actress Zoe Kravitz adopted a unique diet to lose weight for her role as a woman battling an eating disorder in The Road Within - she drank clay.
The X-Men: First Class star dropped 20 pounds (nine kilograms) to portray a woman with anorexia and bulimia and insists she wanted to lose the weight the safest way she knew how.
She tells Us Weekly magazine, "I did a cleanse. I tried to do it
the healthiest way possible, even though it's not healthy to
do.
"I ended up drinking clay, because it cleans out your body and
fills you up. I was eating like a Mason jar of pureed vegetables a
day and running."
Kravitz achieved the results she wanted, but admits the process was
difficult.
She continues, "(It was) awful. (I would) never encourage anyone
(to do it)."
Kravitz isn't alone in her odd cleanse - actress Shailene Woodley
recently revealed she is a big fan of eating clay, saying: "Clay
binds to other material in your body and helps your body excrete
those materials that are not necessarily the best for you."
