Zayn Malik rejoins Twitter

One Direction star Zayn Malik has rejoined Twitter.com just days after quitting the microblogging website over a barrage of abuse from fellow users.

The British singer closed his account on Tuesday (21Aug12) but reactivated it on Thursday (23Aug12) in a bid to keep in touch with fans.

Announcing his return, the pop star writes, "Sorry, I was getting some abuse on twitter but I dont (sic) want to let my fans down. So I am back!!"

The news was popular with devotees who posted messages expressing their appreciation, and the musician had gained 1,148,499 just two hours after rejoining the site.

Malik quit Twitter after he was bombarded with cruel taunts about his relationship with British singer Perrie Edwards, from girl band Little Mix.
