Zayn Malik 'flaked' on collaboration with Tyler, the Creator
Zayn Malik dropped out of recording sessions with Tyler, The Creator, according to the rapper.
When Zayn was working on his solo material last year (15), following his departure from One Direction, Tyler reached out to him on Twitter and suggested they worked together. Zayn seemed keen, replying the idea "sounds sick (great)".
However, their collaboration never surfaced and Tyler released his
own remix of Zayn's debut single Pillowtalk on Tuesday (21Jun16)
and revealed on Twitter that they never teamed up in the end
because the pop star didn't show for their scheduled sessions.
A user wrote, "why don't u and zayn just collab already (sic)," and
Tyler replied, "CAUSE (HE) FLAKED ON STUDIO SESSIONS TWICE."
Back in 2015, Tyler wrote on Twitter, "HI @zaynmalik I HAVE
BEAUTIFUL INSTRUMENTALS AND YOU HAVE A VOICE LETS FIGURE THIS OUT
MY GUY . EPIC ALBUM CUTS THO (sic) NO RADIO SINGLES," and he
replied, "sounds sick BRO let do some (stuff)”.
This isn't the first time Zayn has canceled on work commitments; he
dropped out of appearing of TV program The Graham Norton Show, then
a radio appearance, and most recently the Capital FM Summertime
Ball earlier this month (Jun16).
He explained to fans that he has been having anxiety issues
surrounding live solo performances and it had become too much
before the concert.
"I flew into the UK last night to appear in my home country in
front of my family, friends and most importantly, my UK fans,” he
wrote on social media at the time. “Unfortunately, my anxiety that
has haunted me throughout the last few months around live
performances has gotten the better of me…with the magnitude of the
event, I have suffered the worst anxiety of my career."
He apologized to fans and concluded, “I know those who suffer
anxiety will understand and I hope those who don’t can empathize
with my situation."
Zayn has reportedly turned to Adele for advice on how to overcome
his anxiety issues and his management are said to be doing
everything they can to help him.
