Zachary Quinto pays tribute to Star Trek super fan

Zachary Quinto has sent his condolences to the family of a Star Trek fan who lost his cancer battle just days after seeing an early screening of the upcoming sequel thanks to director J.J. Abrams.

Daniel Craft's family and friends mounted an online campaign late last month (Dec12) for the terminally ill man to see Star Trek Into Darkness, over fears he would die before the scheduled May (13) release date.

Abrams became aware of Craft's plight and agreed to show a rough cut of the blockbuster to him.

Craft lost his fight against cancer last week (ends06Jan13), and the movie's star Quinto has taken to his Twitter.com page to pay his respects.

In a post, he writes, "My heart is with the family of dan craft. 'may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.'"

Abrams addressed his good deed during a panel discussion at the Television Critics Association event over the weekend (05-06Jan13).

He branded Craft's plight "very sensitive" and added that it was "unbelievably touching" to have been asked to grant his final wish, according to Deadline.com.
