Young Jeezy posts bail in gun possession case
Rapper Young Jeezy has been released from jail after posting $1 million bail for a gun possession charge linked to a fatal shooting at a recent concert.
The hip-hop star, real name Jay Jenkins, was taken into custody last Sunday (24Aug14) after police discovered an assault rifle on his tour bus.
Detectives believe the firearm is the same weapon used to kill
38-year-old record label boss Eric Johnson backstage at Jeezy's
joint Under the Influence of Music concert with Wiz Khalifa in
Mountain View, California on 22 August (14).
Jeezy and five members of his entourage were arrested and charged
as no one came forward to claim ownership of the gun.
He pleaded not guilty to the count during a court hearing in
Newport Beach, California on Tuesday (26Aug14) and he walked free
from jail on Thursday night (28Aug14).
The rapper also posted bail for his five associates. He is due back
in court next Friday (05Sep14).
