X-Men beat Godzilla for box office top spot
The new X-Men movie has proven to be a bigger monster at the box office than Godzilla, toppling the blockbuster with a $90.7 million Memorial Day weekend take.
The all-star X-Men: Days of Future Past dominated at cinemas across the country and is now on track to make at least $110 million over the four-day weekend - making it the second-largest holiday opening for the franchise.
Meanwhile, Godzilla continues to roar at the box office, taking in
a second-weekend $31.43 million over the weekend. The film has now
made over $148 million.
Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler's latest comedy Blended comes in
third with an opening weekend haul of $14.25 million.
Neighbors and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 round out the new top five,
according to studio estimates. The official box office results will
be released on Monday (26May14).
