Willow Smith opens up about Annie departure
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith's teenage daughter Willow has finally explained her decision to quit the Annie movie, revealing she wanted to take some time away from the spotlight to "do my own thing".
The 13 year old turned her back on the film project last year (13) and has since been replaced by Beasts of the Southern Wild star Quvenzhane Wallis.
And now she tells V magazine she felt she needed a break after
making her movie debut at the age of six alongside her dad in I Am
Legend, and enjoying huge musical success with the hit Whip My
Hair.
She says, "I just wanted to chill, and be at home, and decompress,
and just find out what I wanna do and where I stand on this planet,
with the little tiny place we have...
"I just feel like I want to do it different than the world's ready
for... I'm enjoying just being independent and doing my own
thing."
Photographs to accompany her new V interview were taken by Karl
Lagerfeld, and Willow reveals she visited the style guru in Paris,
France last year.
She explains, "He was very, very friendly and open. I thought he
was gonna be really mysterious, like peering over his glasses,
evaluating. But he was just awesome. I don't have words, because
he's such a huge icon."
